Hello All

Just ordered myself one of these:

mmmmmmm.......

I have my 7800GTX (just arrived on saturday  ) and my 2 month old 7800GT both for sale to fund this bad boy.

The 7800GTX is still a kick ass card though but i hope the move back to ATI is the right choice

Well this is my 5th card in less than a year, It went:

Sapphire X800 Pro (popped it :( )

Sapphire X800 XL (got this on warranty to replace my X800 Pro but sold it within a week)

XFX 7800GT Xtreme Edition (got this to replace my X800 Pro really)

Asus 7800GTX (this arrived yesterday and was up for sale the same day after some pretty impressive results)

Powercolor X1800XT 512MB (these just seem like a complete bargain and couldnt help myself)

Will get some results when it arrives (hopefully tuesday)

Any thoughts?

Sam

Why didn't you get a x1900xtx

Because i cant afford it and if you buy the best card you always loose alot of money in the long run therefore i like to always be one behind the best.

x1900xt* are around the same price as x1800 last time I checked. :(

If that's the case it totally would have been the right choice... But we must remember that most members here don't live in the states and parts availability and pricing is much different in other parts of the world.

Nice new acquisition hyper7racer, it should do you well...nice card :yumyum: To all the UK peeps, is it not a viable proposition for you to purchase through the 'States', or is the shipping a killer. I'm just asking because atm your currency kicks arse in comparrison to US and Aus$, this would have to work to your advantage surely? Do you pay VAT on all imported items or must it be over a certain amount before they slug you with it?

I do quite a bit of shipping to the UK due to how cheap some parts are in the states. And they don't have to pay VAT if the package is labled "properly" :)

hehe I just dumped my 7800GT and got myself a X1900 AIW card, I see 1000% improvements, although ATI's software SUCKS!!!! IT FREAKING SUCKS!

You should be very happy with it. I got my X1900 a few days ago and it just performs so well, even at stock clocks. Gorgeous image quality too, none of that nVidia shimmering BS.

The new software is good though.

I still don't think so

@masterofpuppets In no way am I an ATI fan and in no way am I a nvidia fan but I think that the image quality is the same and its a load of BS. I just like nvidia better because their software is not a pain in the arse to install and remove and buggy as hell ;)

ATI's top end cards look far superior than nvidia's top end cards, especially at high resolutions. Thats a unanimous fact noted by everyone who's used the X1000 series

ATI's software is better for aliasing, vsynch etc but I do NOT like the overclocking with it and coolbiots is far superior

I went back to Nvidia because the Cayalyst drivers were dodgey and the omega drivers crashed my games when i tried to adjust the rez. But 7800GT > X1600pro so...

Just use ATITool for overclocking. Nothing wrong with that. Overdrive just sucks ass

That's the 2D clocks, when you open something that uses D3D or OpenGL it'll goto the 3D clocks (rated ones). If you look in Overdrive, it'll say the "requested" clocks are your 3D clocks. If you overclock with ATi Tool, the 3D and 2D clocks will be exactly what you set in ATiTool.
