Audio Technica ATH-AD700: Upgrading from Turtle Beach X12, is it worth it?

Is the price tag seriously worth it when I already have X12's? I hear people raving about them for semi competitive gaming, but are they a seriously worth it upgrade from the X12s?

I'm surprised people rave about those headphones? Gamers very rarely like open back headphones as they let outside noise in.

Having said that - yes they are worth the cost, but if you're thinking about buying anything like that, you really need a soundcard to be getting the best out of them.

People say the sound stage and what not is pretty near perfect for shooters. Lvlcap loves them, and whatever that guy says is good for gaming I assume is fantastic for gaming.

I'm running the Supreme FX IV onboard on my Formula V. People say it is pretty much as good as the Xonar DX, and there is no way I'm going to buy a STX lol.

I have open backs for gaming (although not these ones), the sound stage is much wider I've found, less 'head in bucket' feeling than closed backed ones, but I'll be picking up some DT770's soon to test against them :)

They will be LEAGUES better than your turtle beaches (that should go without saying)

Bah! But the cheapest place I can get them+Zalman clip on mic is amazon for $123. Makes me fell ripped off when you get smacked by Amazon's stinkin taxes+shipping+crappy payment options. So maybe they won't be happening soon.

Mate they are $200 here then the mic is $15 then postage +2% so you cant say they are expensive compared to here

Soundstage is great on the cans, yes, so they will help with perceived directional sound. If you like bass, these are not for you. MDR-V6's or DT770's will be a better bet.

Hehe, I guess the rest of the world hates The U.S. because they get ripped off for computer hardware and such.

Oh and your in Aussieland so you REALLY get pipped off. I feel for you man.

I do hope you're joking about the us getting ripped off on hardware... Compared to the way prices translate over here you lot are laughin!

Most stuff is imported from china in the US and we have cheap labor over there so most of the big name companies use that. Then we are the first to get it here then after that shipped out elsewhere.. hence why they are less expensive here. Not happy about us using china to make money but thats a topic for another day...

Aussies surely get ripped the **** off though... i feel bad for them.
