hi im am looking at buying an Asus P5Q motherboard and was wondering whether i am worth going for the Deluxe rather than the pro even though its about £40 more expensive.

i would like to know

1) is the Deluxe worth £40 more than the pro

2) what are the differences between the 2 motherboards

3) any opinion on whether these motherboards are good for overclocking

4) any other suggestion

5) any other good motherboards for under £150

i will be running an e8400, air cooled antec 900 case, a Sapphire HD 4870 1GB GPU, and (2x 2GB) 4GB corsair DDR2.

I'd opt for the P5Q Pro, they're both the same motherboards as far as I remember.

Also, have you not considered changing to a Biostar TPower i45? They're fantastic motherboards as well.

Any of those motherboards are good for overclocking. Either one of them will take your CPU to as far as you can go with air cooling ;)

The P5Q Deluxe has the best cooling, and a few more sata ports than the P5Q Pro and the P5Q-E. The P5Q-E has a better coolign system than the Pro, and a few more little features. The P5Q-E or Deluxe is what I'd go for.

They're good boards for overclocking, just pick which one suits your needs and budget from the two I said.

I have a P5Q-E and it's really good. Overclocked my Q9450 to 3.2GHz without touching any voltages, just bumped the FSB to 1600. It has higher quality components then most motherboards have (high quality adi sound codec - also used in the bundled software based X-Fi cards, dual Marvell gb lan, extra storage controllers), the 8 phase power module is more then enough for any lga775 processor out there, so no point in going for the 16 phase, it's a bit overkill. I would also opt for the WiFi variant that has an usb based WiFi network card.

The difference in $ I would put in more RAM or better quality RAM.

I too would opt for the P5Q-E over the Pro or Deluxe but that's only if the price is right.

I've used the Biostar TForce I45 P45 motherboard for about a month and think it's a fantastic board, although not always very forgiving with sour overclocks. Did well though and got me close to 500FSB with my old E6300, where the faulty RAM was the main limitation.

In your budget, my choices would include the Gigabyte EP45 UD3R or UD3P, Asus P5Q-E or the Biostar TForce I45.

I had the choice of the pro the E and the deluxe....i went for the one in the middle.... E. just fired it up today....nice features. :)

Thanks everyone for your input i have decided that im going to go with the P5Q-E. You have all been a big help thanks.
