Any benefit in new modem/router

I currently have a Netgear DG834GU v5 router/modem. It is quite slow and I don't think it can utilise my dual gigabit networking on my system (two CAT6e cables). There are also 7 other wireless devices that run off the modem/router. Would purchasing a Netgear N600 DGND3700 modem/router improve the speed of the wireless as well as my system?

Thanks

what isp are you on?
because so isp's make it deliberately hard to just "swap out" their provided equipment

with a dg834gu, i'm guessing potentially sky?

I got the modem/router way back with Optus and when I switched to TPG they said I could keep the same router.
Also, what did you mean by "i'm guessing potentially sky?" ?

Oh right. In that case you should be able to change the router with no problems. You could look at getting a wi-fi range extender to see if that helps the signal a bit.

All the devices are fairly close to each other. The router/modem is upstairs, one laptop next to it, one other laptop downstairs, then a PC downstairs running wireless.

Try a new router and if that doesn't make a difference look at a suitable wireless range extender. There are plenty of videos on Youtube regarding them :)
