Aluminium Pintail Longboard

Nice progress on the board but your brave riding like that on Sheffield potholes, I hated riding in Sheff to many 'oles in't road.. Good luck up Ilkley and don't forget you can't go to Ilkla Baht 'at. :)

Thanks mate. I'm up in Brighouse (in the nice bit) so the potholes aren't bad anymore (well they did just fill them all I suppose ;)...) but anyway, I will be doing the full SketchUp model tonight and getting the dimensions written and hopefully cut the thing before the end of next week.

To be honest I actually found that a bit hard to read towards the end ahhaha.

Just curious, but what does it cost you to make these yourself if you don't mind me asking? Had a look around the internet for wooden decks and found that most were around the £100 mark.

As I've used some 1/4 ally for the Brick that my dad had just laying around not doing a whole lot, I'm not actually 100% sure although if you wanted to work it out, it was £300 for him to get an 8' by 4' sheet and I used a sheet of that that was cut at 40" by 12", It comes out at around £30 for the ally. Of course you then have to factor in the cost of the CNC in electricity and water and then the cost of working on the machine (my dad usually puts prices at about £50 a hour).

As this was a relatively small deck I didn't have to use any particularly strong ally but when I get the pintail finally cut, I will be using some 10mm duralumin which should allow me to get the maximum strength while still giving the board play and flex.

My other longboard made of wood cost me about £50 for the deck and then another £50 for the trucks and wheels so pricing could be very competitive if I were to sell them and charge £100, as I know of only one other reputable make which is Cindrich based in America.

Thanks for the info matey. I've been interested in longboarding for a long (no pun intended) time. It's just a shame all the streets are completely flat where I live. As in, the closest to a mountain or hill that we have are speedbumps

I must say, for the price that wooden board is... pretty sweet!

Glad to hear!

Oh and btw, that is a very, very long running joke between me and one of my friends who skates too. Long story short, he said that when we were painting a deck and it just kind of stuck ^_^.
