Adverts at the bottom of the page...

I know it's probably a company like google-ads, but it's a bit worrying to have ads for things like "driverboost.com" lurking around at the bottom of the oc3d pages.

These things are hardly ever a good idea to use, causing more problems and ads than you need.
 
i'd highly doubt if the OC3D staff have any control over this sort of stuff, i would hope that most of the users here would be savvy enough not to fall for it though, which in a way would give an incentive to the OC3D staff to get it changes as I presume they make more money the more ads get clicked on
 
I think the ads maybe context sensitive to a degree in the sense that it sometimes shows ads relating to the "key words" on the page, but most of the time I think they are random ads. Like right now for me the ad is about some cleaning product, which may or may not be the same for everyone else.

Is it weird that I dont get any adverts at the bottom of the page? I only see one for Aria PC on the right and one for FX 8120 on the top, and they never change.

FF and add blocker = what personalised adds lol.

I know what you mean though before i installed add blocker all i got was screwfix direct and its tool adverts. its kinda worrying just how "watched" we are lol.
 
yeh kinda destroys the whole privacy thing ^^

if i visit a site the second after it shows as a advert on my hotmail login .....
 
Creepy Big Brother Shit,,, I was looking at cases the other day on Pixmania,,, An hour or so later I get an email from Pixmania showing me what cases they have on promo and its my last chance to buy,,, the cases that were on promo were the exact cases I was looking at,,, I think Google adwords, Google Chrome and Gmail are somhow all kinda linked to gether,, I never gave my email to Pixmania and it was too much of a coincidence.............

So yep ad-block and click to flash are my favourite extensions from now on,, Sorry Tom I know its gonna cost you dosh but you should really get some of your own advertisers instead of letting google do the work....
 
I know people get a bit weird about "big brother" stuff, but I don't think it is too bad. You are looking for a case, the next thing you know you get special offers regarding products you are interested in, what's not to like?

Although if they did start selling your details onto other people I do disagree with that, but customised adverts for me? I am all for them, oc3d has to make money from somewhere, so has to have adverts, so they may as well be on something I am interested in!

Yeh I use click to flash but I leave the ads be. I don't mind em as long as I don't get any e-mails regarding what is advertised and as long as there is no sound

i know its bad but really have to refrain myself from clicking on it lol
