A Message to Server Admins

Yes, people hack, and a lot of the its its fairly obvious, but BEFORE you lift the large ban hammer on someone you arent sure about, or BEFORE you start binding mouse 1 to kill, beware of a few things.

There are very very good players out there, and more of them play on our server than you may think. I've been speaking with a player called solle, he used to play for Phoenix Faction (who are one of the top ED teams), and he has told me that he stopped playing on our server after the admins banend a few of his mates for "cheating". One of these played for CSA (another top team).

He has told me he will come back to our server, so keep a lookout for him, and be more wary before banning very good players.

A good tip, is to ask a player what clan they play for BEFORE you ban them. Remember, a lot of good players dont wear tags, so be aware that they may just be very good, whilst secretly playing for a good team.

If they are clanless, clearly cheating, and rude, then go ahead, ban away. But be aware that the oc3d presence on the internet is rising, and more people are hearing about the site, and game servers, hence, do not be surprised if we start to get better players on our server, and keep these points in mind before banning them.

Very good point. DK if its worth it but ive taken to demoing anyone i ban. And making sure that in that demo there are atleast 2 or 3 instances of BS play.

if im not sure if they are insanely good or hacking, i just say, "ur too skileld to play on our humble server, please leave" lmao

Also beware that i know of at least 2 of our site sponsors that play on our servers.

If you ban them, or are abusive to them or maybe anyone else on the server while they are playing, then it wont look good on us.

CSA and PF? Cool! I know these teams well. I used to play for PF (for a little while) and was going to join CSA back in the day but didn't due to time issues.

i generally dont even bother with hackers anymore unless theyre taking the mickey or really obvious. I just see them as a challenge. i just stick to banning rude / annoying people

my 2 cents is dont ban them till map changes if it does because iv seen players and myself even have like 30-3 or 30-5 looks like your hacking but you are doing great on a certain map map changes and your record changes to 5-30.

yup, i think we shd make the most of the fact that they choose our server and turn it intot he best damn d2 server thr is!!
