2013 for the pc

What will the main things as far new hardware goes for pcs in 2013? My guess would be haswell cpus that can get 5Ghz stock, ddr 4 ram, 1tb ssds, 5tb hdds. I know they are bit far fetched but who knows

iPad 6 and I'm not exaggerating.

The next Tegra 3 has 72 shaders as opposed to 12, still a quad-core but I hear the architecture is being improved.

I read Intel are planning on 8 or even 16 core Atoms, but I'm not sure if they'll release this year or not - hopefully not a mobile Bulldozer. Intel is keen to point out their mobile x86 offerings are on-par or besting ARM in terms of power efficiency (maybe spotting the niche created by Surface's poor battery life).

Noctua I'd guess will release a fan with another half dozen categories of notches.

Windows RT may end up forgotten about and Windows 8 should start to see some useful software built with it in mind.

2560x1440 will become far more mainstream and 1080p monitors maybe be available for £55-£70 new before 2014.

Just a few estimates.

Haswell specs have already been leaked, they will have the same stock speeds as Ivy

I to think we will see DDR4 in 2013, if I am not mistaken it was suppose to be out already

1TB SSD'S are already a thing xD - http://www.kikatek.com/P253099/OCT1-25SAT3-1T-OCZ-Octane-1TB-SATA-III-2-5-inch?source=froogle Extremely expensive, but the technology is there

And WD are suppose to be releasing a 5tb drive near the end of 2013 :)

DDR4 is meant to be out for server boards in 2014, and 2015 for general motherboards. Never know we might see it late in 2013 for servers.

I doubt we'll see any major improvements with the 700 series nVidia cards either; ATI isn't giving them much completion in terms of R&D and the fact that their share price is dropping.

2014 though will be interesting - Intel possibly going with 1155 class (not the socket but the gaming and every day use platform) soldered to the mb.

I dunno how much I'd trust 5TB HD's, see enough problems with 3TB ones.

Also wonder what's going to happen with Asus as they've just sold their Australian arm or something.

Possibly the introduction/wider spread in later '13 of AC wireless (1.2GB/S or thereabouts)

sorry but were you meaning with Broadwell? if so i think the platform was meant to be 1150, same as the Haswell. Along with a die shrink.
Also unsure if they would solder what would be there gaming type cpu's to motherboards. Would be more the everyday platforms for desktop computers.

I would think it would only be cheap consumer pcs from dell or HP for example. I don't think they would bother with soldering the enthusiast chips as it wouldn't be good for thier market.

2560x1440 will become the new standard in 2013 I think. Then AMD and Nvidia better get their GPU's in check :p

4k isn't that far away I think 2015 is when we see something affordable.. if we can't handle 1440 now then lulz good luck to us then..
