$20 via PayPal to anyone that can resolve my TV tuner issue!

Ok guys, since tech support on this tv tuner card I got eats a gigantic wang, I'm offering up $20 via PayPal to the first person that can resolve my problem!

I first installed the card and booted in to windows, installed all the drivers etc and then windows device installer got all raunchy and tried to freeze up on me and not load the newly loaded drivers.

Anyhow, I've tried this card on my other pci slot etc and done everything i can think of or have read to do to try and solve this problem online but havent got it figured out yet.

This is what my device manager shows and the error message I get:

tv_2.jpg

I've also cross referenced and made sure that there are no conflicting IRQ's or memory addresses etc making the card not function properly. This problem looks like a typical random microshaft winblows problem....

So, for anyone that wants/needs $20, get me a solution! Kids w/o jobs and too much time on your hands, here's a quick way to get $20 :)

Thx in advance, I'll let u know if I've tried ur proposed remedy as they come in.

:wavey:

how expensive was the card?

@rocks: About $50.

@harmonic: Yup... Won't let me modify, repair, reinstall, or even delete the drivers w/o that error message popping up.

G'day Fraggles

"To avoid conflicts between other PCI devices Compro is therefore recommending users put their PCI TV tuner card in the 4th slot. We followed this advice and XP Device Manager informed us that the VideoMate was indeed running with its own, un-shared IRQ." (AUS Overclockers)

Perhaps the drivers on the install disk are corrupted, perhaps try the drivers downloaded from the website. Although I'm sure you have tried this already lol :D Boy you were right about their support, it sux a big one by not telling you anything!!!

he said he tried getting the drivers from manufacturers website and it still didnt work :(

whats brand is it and do you have a link to it?

first try it in every different pci slot, if it makes no difference then try to manually install the drivers asin go onto the disk select em and paste em into where they need to be on the hard drive, another idea, go to controle pannel and click add new hardware...try it that way, another new idea is to download the new drivers, and do the same as with on the disk, try to put em where they should be, for my final idea, ring the company up and tell em to tell ya what to do

Hey Balilu

It's a Compro VideoMate TV Gold Plus Tv Tuner, and it is XP compatable. :)

It's actually the "non +" version but I don't think it will matter when trying to find a fix. Here's a link to the exact card that I have.

@PV: I've tried the card in every PCI slot with no luck on any of them, it's currently in the last PCI slot. I've also downloaded the drivers from the website, and when trying to isntall them I get the error. The error pops up when I try to do ANYTHING with the drivers or hardware profile, I can't even delete the hardware profile from device manager, I get the error and then it tells me the card might be a startup device and can't be deleted.

See attached screenie for exact error message.

Frag, why did you buy such a **** card mate? I would only get a Hauppauge. Any way did you download from this link?

http://www.comprousa.com/downloadfiles/VMTV_Driver2322.zip

Eguy, I know... big mistake... I took Nicks advice on hardware (why God... WHY???) and I got stuck with a flaming pos card w/ no tech support, lol.

I think im gonna RMA it for something better. Gimme some linkage to the ones ur talking about.

I also just recently decided to make xp64 my main os so I'll need a tuner card with x64 compatible drivers, do the Hauppauge cards work on x64?

Well, FragTek...my card works fine. I reccomended my card. Not that model. I don't know what to say.

Good for you :) I would expect a company to make a higher end card work without problems for more money, lol.

you should get a Hauppauge like Eguy said or maybe an Nvidia NVTV or Ati Tv Wonder. in my opinion Ati Theater is the r0x0r

Here's a round-up from Anandtech ;)
