1440p Korean monitors opinions needed

I have been considering buying one of those Korean 1440p monitors for a while now.

I'd like to get a few opinions from the guys here, especially if you have experience using them. Any preferred brands or sellers?

Thanks for any replies

I have no experience with them yet, but I too plan on buying a QNIX QX7210 1440p PLS monitor (to overclock to high refreshrates)

Theres a site, called 120hz.net where many users bought korean monitors and can possibly help you out.

was looking into a qnix myself, not interested in overclocking the monitor though.

Anyone here with actual experience with them?

Ive got the dgm ips-2701wph from ocuk... its an awesome monitor, stand is naf though..

At least... i think its Korean.

There's a few threads on some of the other large PC communities that had reviews for the Korean panels. With a running poll, so say x brand had 30/400 people say it came with x amount of dead pixels etc etc. That would give you a bit more of an insight into which panel to buy.

Personally at the time I decided to buy a Yamakasi because it was cheap I could have gotten a really nice 1080 monitor for the money I spent (350 AUD) but I wanted to try 1440 next time I will probably spend a little bit more so I could get a higher quality 1440 monitor if only to just see if there's any difference between them.

Got a X-STAR DP2710 inch which manage 110 hz, i would advice getting a checked monitor as my first one wasn't and it had dead pixels all over.

Get a matte bezel tho, the glossy one is my only regret with mine.

Have the Qnix for a while and its been great.
No bleeding problems or stuck pixels.
Overclocked like a champ.
Just make sure you pick up Square Trade coverage just in case you get a bad one.

as far as I'm aware the qnix qx2710 and x-star dp2710 are exactly the same. Am i correct in saying this?

can anyone recommend any sellers?

I have heard the same.
I purchased my Qnix from Green-sum on ebay.
He sent it out DHL and had no problems.
Just be aware that when they ship these out they only send them out in their retail box wrapped in bubble wrap.
Not much protection.
Which is why I suggested picking up Square trade for protection.
Also I would suggest that if you do plan on getting one is to pull the trigger and order it before the holidays. Your package might be treated more gingerly.

Overclocking an IPS panel is pointless. You degrade color quality very quickly and it won't help make it that much smoother since not many setups can do 60+ fps constantly at 1440p.

You can easily adjust for color correction or even turn down your overclock to compensate for that.
As far as a fps gamer myself overclocking my ips has made a huge difference in my enjoyment in gaming.
I agree he will need a decent gpu to carry his games at decent rates but I assume he does realize that. If not I agree he will be wasting his time unless he is willing to play with lower graphic settings.

Some sites to help with this are :

Hope this helps.

after much research and price watching I recently purchased an x-star DP2710 monitor from dream-seller on ebay. It hasn't arrived yet and fedex can't seem to find Canada on the map so it's taking it's time, but I will update with a review of the monitor once I get it.

I'm upgrading from a 1200p samsung t240 24' wide monitor which has served me well over the years but the draw of a bigger screen and higher res has taken over my wallet temporarily.

Does anyone have that monitor specifically or the qnix mirror version? Thanks benzite for the links :)

I plan on buying a X-STAR DP2710 too, will be buying it after christmas or new year if my finances are good for it.

I plan on writing up my experiences as well.

My old monitor is beginning to pack in and I really would be nice to have a full on upgrade to an IPS panel and a higher res.

Been thinking of getting one of the X-Star ones, but the dead pixels are putting me off. Might just spend the extra and get a checked unit.

I have a Yamakasi Catleap 270Q non OC model. Love it and nothing wrong with it apart from the shitty stand it comes with.

The PLS panels are a fan favorite at the moment. They all overclock to more than 60hz and a fair chunk make it over 100.

I haven't heard of IPS panels losing their colour when overclocking so I can't validate this, however I have read it does happen with PLS panels this can be somewhat offset by colour correction. Bottom line you can't really make a bad choice. I suggest you look at OCN's threads on these monitors I've found OCN to be much better forum vs 120hz only because of the sheer volume of members gives you a really good average.

Good luck, I'm sticking with my catleaps. Sourcing two more.

I'm definitively getting a checked monitor, i cannot afford to have it go wrong for me.

Looking at a pixel perfect QNIX QX2710 monitor with HDMI, DVI and DISPLAYPORT for £250. Going for the extra inputs and OSD to allow more devices to be plugged in if the need arises.

Import Tax may be an issue adding to the cost :(.

Currently looking at the screen trying to hit the buy button, BUT IT IS SOO MUCH MONEY!!! :banghead:

I'll likely buy it tomorrow or in a few days.

Go check out some threads on OCN mate all the info you need is there, they have a lot of reviews about the monitors. Just a heads up I suggest you read over the "pixel perfect" option. Somewhere it'll say up to two pixels may be dead.

Not to burst your bubble but these are A- panels they are not perfect they've been rejected by LG or Asus therefore get sold off to third parties.

You can be assured that i have read up on these Korean Panels for a good while now, ever since my current monitor started behaving badly.

I have very carefully read their policy and feedback, there have been no negative or neutral reviews for their pixel perfect panels and have easily the best feedback i have seen on ebay.

This model is a samsung panel from AccessoriesWhole on ebay, the panel i am looking at is here
