Zalman zm700-lx (700w)

Well I am not asking because of it's 700W. I want reliable PSU in that price range and that one caught my attention.

Currently I am using an old intel quad core with 4 gigs of ram an old ati hd card. 400W PSU will be more than enough to power this.

I am planning to upgrade to i5-4460, 16gb hyperx fury ram and haven't decided on GPU yet. I am buying r9 270 for the time being and planning to upgrade it to r9 280x or 290 in a few months.

500W should be enough even if I pick card like r9 290x but that way PSU would run near it's max and that's just bad.

I am sorry, what does OEM stands for when talking about PSU?

Central europe, availability is not that great. They got most of things that people are buying but the price a weird. Most items are a bit more pricey, some of them are like 2x price you can find on new egg or more.

Weirdest thing is that when you look at benchmarks you can find hardware that is less expensive and actually better than other stuff. You can find cards that are beeing sold for about 200 euro (world wide) for 500 or 600 and their performance is much worse than other cards in that range.

I am willing to buy it from 4 local shops and their good and price differs a bit but in general I can pick one of this (from 35 - 65 euro range). If there is something you would recommend I could look it up in shops if it would be within my budget.

CRONO PS500Plus/ 500W
CRONO CR-600
Cooler Master Thunder 600W (RS600-ACABM2-WB)
HIEFTEC GPA-500B8 500W
ZALMAN 500W ZM500-LX
ZALMAN 700W ZM700-LX
FORTRON GREEN POWER OEM 550W AX550-60APN
FORTRON 550W AX550-60APN Green Power
EVGA 500W / 80 Plus
CHIEFTEC GPS-600A8 600W
SilentiumPC 500W Vero
FORTRON HEXA+500W
ZALMAN 500W ZM500-GV
EVGA 500B 500W
SEASONIC 500W SS-500ET T3
CHIEFTEC GPS-700A8 700W

I've eliminated stuff like eurocase and probably would exclude crono, hieftec, chieftec as well. So it looks to me that the best choice would be ZALMAN 700W ZM700-LX or EVGA 500B 500W.

I would go for the EVGA 500B if I were you.

OEM is just the original manufacturer of the PSU. Some include Seasonic, Superflower, FSP, etc.

Then companies like EVGA, Corsair, Bequiet, etc rebadge them as their own product.

Its just how the PSU market works ;)

Ah, my bad... that make sense now. How could I determine who is the OEM? I didn't saw that on that official product page.

Yes 500B looks like the best choice to me as well. I am a bit worried that if I purchase some more demanding GPU like R9 290x than under load it would run almost at max. Currently this Zalman is about 6 euro less than 500B and few hours ago it was about 10 euro more.

EDIT: My bad I have no Idea how could I miss this topic.

Last I heard they were still going, even when they filed for bankruptcy they warranty service was quite decent when I dealt with them. Though could be an exception though.
