In your opinion what is the best way to defend yourself and kick some arse at the same time?

In a real world where people are armed, dangerous and relentless

MUAY THAI!

I was supposed to go tonight but too much of a mad rush to get there on time. Come down on Wednesday, it's not that far...

Why? Muay thai teaches you to use 8 limbs, hands, elbows, knees and shins (yes in MT you use your shins not feet to smash people with!).

IRL you won't use any fancy kicks, you will use fists, elbows, knees and probably your head.

I've done kick boxing, nippon kempo, mok gar kung fu, judo and a little aikido.

Since starting MT i'm overwhelmed by the devastating power of the style.

It is derived from muay boran

Muay Boran's form is quite efficient, in that it maximizes the amount of damage that each blow can inflict, and effective, in that it can easily lead to the death or serious injury of the opponent. Most notably, Muay Boran emphasizes the use of extremely powerful elbow and knee techniques, and combinations thereof, always thrown at full force and speed, with the intent to overcome one's adversary as quickly as possible, because another one might already be coming close or attacking.

this just reminded me of a quote from wild wild west

*guy does a load of martial arts stuff then gets into a stance*

" l learned that off *cant remember name*"

*will smith flicks a shovel up with his feet and hits the guy other the head*

"well i just made that up"

classic film! =D

run......

some people i know only do martial arts because they people will think woooooo, your well hard.

The thing is I do run/get away from situation but sometimes you will be forced to fight/receive a beating - tbh i'd rather at least be able to take one punch...then get them to the floor unable to hurt me further.

Too many times have I been in the situation where I take a beating no matter what I do and wish I could at least try to "tame" them or gain some respect. I'm not the violent type and probably classed as a "pansy". I mean...if someone is intent on hurting you - they are going to no matter what you do so id rather cause at least some damage to fend them off

If youre in danger, finger in the eye, foot to the crotch or punch to the throat, f**k showing off.

But to watch, display tae kwon do is very impressive

Anybody still teach Bruce Li`s methods ? Some outstanding black and white documentaries with him talking about his pull of all different types of martial art and adding his own thoughts.

Arrange a fight and then don't turn up :D you have defended yourself by not getting a beating and beat him through humiliation (until he finds you)

All the weapons in the world will not hurt you if they cannot reach you. ;)

In reality should you find yourself in that situation, then go psycho with MFV (maximum f**'**ing violence) and as soon as the opportunity arises for you to get out of that situation do so. Even if it means you are running away.

Muay Thai - trained a bit in that and it's very powerful and gives you a lot of weapons to use. That and some dirty street fighting tactics
