can i just make a point after reading most of what has been put, you mention its affects on children, GTA has never, ever been marketted at anyone below 18 years of age. anyone stupid enough to buy the game for their kids, when its pretty much universally known exactly what's in it.. is the one that is 100% completely and undeniably at fault.

no-one else, not the maker, not the child, not us for enjoying it.

the parent has the opputunity to deny a CHILD the game, if they don't take it they have absolutely no right whatever to complain.

99% of gta is adult humour, it just IS... it always has been and won't change, and its never been for kids, yeah we've all played it AS kids before it all went uber 3d back in the GTA 1 days, but ratings are taken seriously in shops so the parents of the children should do the same its their responsibility no-one elses.

I dont see why people get so bothered about these sorts of things, its as if they are crying out for attention.

On the other hand, GTA4 WAS (Xbox broke) an amazing game

I never take offense to inclusions in a game such as this either, but I'm going to play the devil's advocate here. Whilst you and many other gamers are obviously sound of mind (well at least I hope you are lol), what's to stop those who struggle differentiating fact from fiction and those mentally unwell from acting on this..And yes I know that there will always be a minority of people who do consider acting upon this. Which isn't healthy!

I feel that Rockstar may have overstepped the fine line on this one - real or not. Perhaps the reason I feel this way is because I am a father to 3 children, but it may also be that I find the thought of paedophilia morally detestable and sickening. Just my 0.02c worth for what it's worth.

I agree with you, I think that Rockstar are making light of a very serious issue and as a father myself, I am disgusted with it! I haven't been bothered by all the other stunts they have pulled, but if this one is true, it's waaay out of line!! It's a shame that they feel the need to pull sensational and childish stunts like this just to promote what would be a decent game! They are relying on all the attention from things like this to sell the game, and are not trying to sell the game on it's true merit. While some may find it funny or think it's nothing to worry about, have they thought about all the bad press gaming will receive yet again? The long term implications from Rockstar's misplaced humour have yet to be felt I think. Some groups are lobbying governments for tougher censorship within games, and stuff like this just makes their case all that much stronger! I bet alot of you would be complaining then!

I have been a gamer for over 25 years now and I have seen pretty much every stunt that a game developer can pull to attract media interest in their title but this one is really bottom of the barrel stuff! What are they going to try next? I shudder to think.

What other crime should give you that much police attention. You can murder and get a 1 star. That's how bad they rank it. Try to look at a closed down kiddie porn site and they send in the big guns.

I'm not suggesting that people will become peadophiles if they play this game! What I am saying is that Rockstar shouldn't be making a joke out of such a serious issue! As for the 'it's just a game' I keep hearing, Rockstar are going to end up getting our games heavily censored before long. What then? Will you be bothered then?

It's not even a joke about child porn... I'm actually confused about how it is making light of it. I believe one branch of law enforcement had actually set up a web page like that one. If you went on it, you were automatically hunted down for questioning. So, rockstar are just imitating an everyday occurrence in life.

It may have been terrorism rather than child abuse though.

Southpark had at least a whole episode about child molestation. Actually i'm remembering at least 2. No one has censored them.
