You Really can Commit all Crimes in GTA IV

So do you think they put it within the game as some sort of moral statement? I doubt that very much. The biggest problem I have with Rockstar is that they don't do their stunts to improve the game, the do it to generate publicity and hopefully to sell more games. Why else would they even consider this latest one? Does it make the game look, feel or play better with it's inclusion? No! So why the hell is it there?

I hate the thought of censorship within games and I think that most of those who want it haven't even tried playing games, but Rockstar keep adding fuel to the fire and making it easier to argue for censorship.

Nice to see the article has fueled some debate.

I can totally understand where stuartpb and PV are coming from, but I for one still believe it was just a joke. It doesn't really need a good reason to be there and I don't think it was Rockstar trying to get more publicity.

Rockstar are almost saving us from the political correctness. Censorship will never happen as the riots that it results in will be huge.

Just another little joke RockStar likes to add to an already dark game.

i just had to register to post on this news story after reading various comments

first off, i could maybe understand your totally over the top responses if the website actually led to maybe even a glimpse of a child but it doesn't! you click on a link and bam its a police msg and 5 stars are up

secondly, to the ppl going on how appalling it is to make light of such a serious crime; thats pretty much the point of GTA

we have murder, kidnapping, gun running, drug dealing, executions, maimings, torture, racism, and exploding pigeons and you're whinging about a website that doesn't even show anything..?

i'm guessing most the ppl who replied here didn't go and check the website out (i sure as hell did, free pics! <that was a joke) and are just jumping to conclusions

at the end of the day gta games are renowned for pushing the tongue-in-cheek boundaries and in the days of such nonchalance towards pretty much..well everything you're bound to push a few buttons

Exactly the point is that you don't actually go onto a website and straight away you get 5 stars, so really Rockstar are discouraging you from doing it morally so to say, it just so happens that 5 stars is good fun in GTA

Total hypocracy. You hate the thought of censorship but yet you would rather Rockstar leave one of their own ideas out of their own game. Just becasue what, you think they are trying to get more sales that way? So what? Even if they where, isnt that the idea? To milk as much money as you can outa the most popular game ever? Either way, (I havent played the game) but from what im hearing this is pretty well hidden, and even if you DO find it BAM its 5 star rating. So in that case, they must be saying that thats a serious offense in game or not. So apparently they arent encouraging it, and you dont see their slogans trying to sell the game with "5 star rating if you find the child porn site!!".

Once again, its just a game.

Talk rubbish man!! Stupid stunts like this have no place in gaming and when you have kids of your own you might just understand!! I am against censorship, but that doesn't mean that I think gaming should be an open house with regards sensitive issues! It's all about common sense and whats right or wrong!

And everybody has a different view of whats right and wrong. Apparently, even on such an issue as this and the replies on this very forum reflect that.

Even if i DID have kids (which i plan to have) i wouldnt view this as anything but just nonsense in a game. I mean seriously, im an animal lover and on Postal 2 you can catch a dog on fire,

on it to make it go out, then beat it to death with a shovel. Or you can take a live cat and use it as a shotgun silencer but you dont see me saying anything about that. Its common sense to me to know that those things are out there and very real and games today just reflect whats in the real world. Which GTA does a very good job at.

Like you, the law finds pedobear a very serious crime and GTA reflects that as well with giving you 5 stars right off the bat.

As i said, its all in how you look at it. You just see it and start ranting without taking a step back and thinking then you will have the exact opinion as you do now. You take a moment to get what the game is saying and youll realize they find it as bad as you do.

As for what should be in gaming. Thats up to the developer to decide, and you to buy. You dont have a right to tell them what to put in a game as much as they dont have a right to tell you to buy it. Here again, all in how you look at it.

As for the anti-gamers BS its people like you who make a big deal out of something so small in a game that give them the fuel for their fire. Arguments you create give them reason to protest. You keep it on the down low and since i doubt seriously they even play these games then they wont eevn know about it. Make a big stink about it and they will be all over it like a fly on dog crap.

People like me are the ones who have enough sense to realise when developers are overstepping the boundaries of what is acceptable! I have the right to have my say just as much as you do, and I think that you should resist your urges to rant too mate! I find any mention of peodophilia within ANY game to be overstepping the mark, thats my opinion and I am entitled to it! Whether that opinion is right or wrong isn't your call, thankfully! If you had been into gaming as long as I have, you would know that the hobby isn't about social statements, contriversial topics or any other motive, it's supposed to be about having fun!! As for the excuse of it's only a game, that must be the lamest thing I have ever heard. If you are going to come up arguing, please do give it a little more thought!

They have barely implied what we all think. It's so small what they've done I can't believe it's stirring people so much. If they had let the page load up then say BANNED, then that's going a little further but as it stands you put in the address of what could be a perfectly normal pageant website and you get a massive wanted level.

Maybe Rockstar just really hate pageants... Might have lost a couple when they were children themselves?

1) Its their game, they can do what they want in it.

2) Its GTA. You find everything in GTA.

3) They havent exactly included any pedobear material so your just jumping to conclusions.
