Yellow/Yellow wire too short.

Help anyone. My Yellow/Yellow wire is to short to reach the PWR pin on my EVGA 680i SLI motherboard. What solution is recommend to work around this?

I have purchased a PWR LED connector (Green/White)

as a work around - will this idea work?

cut the wire and extend it with more wire

solder the joins and insulate with heat shrink tubing.
