I am currently running sli 1080s and was thinking of upgrading from my Gigabyte Z77-UD5H and 3770K to ether a x99 or Z170 motherboard but I run three monitors, sli is focused on the center 1440p 165hz monitor the side screens being secondary screens for watching twitch, youtube, temps ect.
I want to be able to run the two 1080s in sli to run the primary display and a old 780 to run the secondary screens, I used to do this on X58 not with 1080s obviously. Currently there is a fps hit whenever twitch or youtube is playing on one of the secondary screens while running a GPU intensive game on the primary screen.
So I guess my question is am I forced to use X99 and a 40 PCI express lane cpu to accomplish this, also a secondary question is possible to also run a bootable m.2 drive along with all of the above. (I know there are separate lanes for m.2 drives ect on Z170)
