x48 Bargain!!

I cant belive that this was £250 just this time last year and now its better than half price and still a great performer with the right chip and graphics

Now my project blackops is finally affordable

Cant wait to get a pair of xfx hd4770's in crossfire now and Q6600

What do you guys think??

mhmm how does the x48 chipset compair to p35 for overclocks? as im thinking bout making the move to ddr3 soon as the price of ddr2 is slowly raising (that and my current ddr2 is starting to die)

This probably wouldnt be my first choice of mobo tbh, X48 can go real well but Ive heard of so many of these mobo's dieing. There was also a rumor foxconn were going to stop making there own enthusiast motherboards after the price drops.

I don't honestly think the x48 mobos were that good a release idea.

From personal experience, I've had a load of x38 mobos fail pwm wize, not the x48 yet tho.

But as opposed to the x38 over the P35, I don't personally feel the x48 was anything over the P45 mobos. The biggest thing in both these cases are the chipset revisions used. Number of nics, a firewire perhaps. DDR2/3 came out in both flavors. Then there's xfire if u wanted it.

I do believe there is a review of this mobo, or a close revision of it, in the OC3D review section - that would be my first place to look.

As to the price, it is a bargain. Will it be good/bad ? Find the review, look at other reviews and remember that if it fails, u can return it to ebuyer anyway.

Bios upd8s might be the sticky patch. Using a Q6600 tho and not something like a Q8200 'should' mean the mobos shipped bios would be ok as it is.

friend had one of these boards awhile back, he had to return the first as a bios flash went **** up but he soon aqquired a new one which is still running nice with an overclocked q9650 on it, he said its a very very tricky board and does need certain skills to overclock it etc, he also mentioned it is a darn fussy board aswell, one day it will work for e.g q6600 3.6ghz 1.36vcore but the next day it wont boot soo it can be a very tempremental board, personally i would use this board for suicide runs and mental overclocking, but as a normal gaming platform it should also be a really good board.

at £80 you cant go wrong mate!

I bought one for my dad, in that it was cheaper than the equivalent p45 board, and I haven't seen any problems yet. Its not running overclocked (I needed something 100% stable) but it seemed to be really easy to set up. It was a bit cheaper htan this on overclockers a couple of months back.

Cheers for replies people. Im not planning on running a massive overclock due to running air cooling but i do want to run two 4770's in crossfire. Ive read some reviews getting mixed comments but generally a good board and if i do want a benching session its got the potential. Like has been raised the bios may be an issue but the warranty's there for backup so i may give it a go
