As title, which one beats which in single PCi-e?

I think its the GTX, but that only has 256MB so I'm not too sure. Confirmation from someone who knows would be much appreciated :)

gtx 256 wins most battles - volt mod it and it flys.... x1800xt costs a lot more but OC's nicely too.... cost wise the gtx is best bang for buck of the two

Agreed - plus you could go sli later (buy a 2nd hand one on the cheap) and not have to worry about changin your mobo.

Volt modded the GTX is better, but the X1800Xt is quicker out the box - but there is not much in them performance wise - the GTX is quieter and is a single slot cooling solution (can upgrade to artic colling silencer for better temps if required) the X1800 runs hotter and is noisey at full fan speed.

I'd go on price versus performance and on that basis alone the 256MB GTX wins for me.

value for money id go for the gtx but if youve got it then the x1800xt would be nice. Although i am always put off getting a card as soon as it comes out due to possible driver problems etc.

I have just swapped out my 7800gtx for a x1800xt, will report on any differences

I just hate the constant new drivers and the poor AA and shimmering with AF .

:S poor AA and shimmering AF? i think u have done something wrong, my young eyes dont notice this.

its well known nvidia cards take a harder hit performance wise when AA is enabled.

And their AF is poor. lots of games have a shimmering effect on textures when you enable it at say 8x or 16x, thats when its really noticeable.

maybe its just my eyes are drawn to it cos i know its there :)

so just because nvideas AA makes more of a performance hit it means that obviously ATIs is worse, thats the most stupid thing ive heard all day.

i didnt mean it like that, chill dude.

I meant its poorer implementation.

nm eh.
