WOPR desk computer

Been sanding and sanding to get straight edges and round corners.
The top parts getting good now, and ready for gluing. But i think i leave some parts to the last step so i dont get any problems adding the electronics :)

Adding a pic of the real deal, from almost the same angle.

My biggest concern with the WOPR was the doors, they are countersunk and have rounded edges.

Take a look

I tried different solutions, cut open pipe, sanding in a angle and other stuff, nothing really good.
Now i found this, and whats im going with. Not 100% identical with the original but good enough.
Some putty and sanding, and after that i will run a router bit making the edge rounded i think will do the job.

Now the fun work starts :)
Time to figure out where the LED´s go, from what cluster and what colour, my charts are pretty easy to follow, but with 1400 LED´s i think i will have a brain freeze or two :P

Trying the leds in the panels before paint.
Noticed the yellow needs to be changed to amber, too much yellow
BTW, its 3mm led´s :)

WOPR or Whoop Ass?

This is one very interesting theme build.
Will be following along for sure.

The LED's are gonna be a work out for your soldering skills.

Glad to see that you enjoy the case :)

Started the building now, its growing
Different colors, just the primers for sanding to see scratches and stuff. Black paint is the best for that!
When its done, i will prime it and paint the correct color of course :)

Made some more panels for the USB headers.

The USB headers goes here, behind the "tower" at the red arrow.

And a colourtest to see how it looks :)

Soon gettin´ there, much time goes to the LED´s and not so much for the case right now.

I have stopped using my white plastic and moved to acrylic, more rigid and not flopping around when sanded. The styrene is to saggy to use in a case this big.

Its gettin´ taller!
I have three fans in the case, on on either side of it, on pulling and the other pushing, one side have double setup (where the rad is).
Both fans are hidden behind a panel and push/pull air trough a duct in front of it. I have made some tests with cardboard just to see the flow and cooling capacity and its plenty good for my purposes. Tested with 100% cpuload in 4hrs and a H60 cooler.
I didnt want any visible fans, im all focused on making it really really look like a smaller version of the real WOPR :)

The small tabs behind the rounded corner on the acrylic is temporary there when gluing, to get nice straight corners. otherwise they will hit the motherboard :)

First pic, case rising to the skies.
This is the back side with IO-plate cutout. You also see the fan hole that later is hidden.

Pic two
Here is the cover over the fan on the left side of the case.
Other side have the same type of panel.

Here is how the real WOPR looks like at almost the same angle :)
