Windows Freezes on Startup

Every few days my PC will begin starting up, only to stop at the Windows 7 animation logo. It continues to move but goes nowhere. I force restart and it happens again. Restart once more and voila... Windows starts.

It seems completely random... what is causing this?

I've had the same issue, eventually it refused to start at all and I had to reinstall windows.

Guessing you use 64 bit? It's probably windows update. I just reinstalled a few times this week - and it was fine until i let windows update itself...then the problem returned. So I reinstalled again and turn updates off - 4 days with no problems - I havent got far enough into the problem to figure out which update it was yet...

My advice - back up whilst you still can an reinstall with updates off! I don't think its coincidence that we have had the same issue at the exact same time!

It might be components singing on the last line.....soon to die. Hope for your sake its just a software issue.

I had the same issue, swapped the port the main hard drive sat on, swapped the RAM while I was at it, problem gone.

Try the port swap first, all else fails and it really grinds your gears, swap the RAM.

It's all new hardware

I'll try port swap and see if that helps.
