hey guys when i want to install drivers for my X-Fi on Windows 7 it says i need to upgrade to windows XP and my onboard works fine wtf?

can anyone help me with this

Oh god.

U know Creative are going to screw every1 over the new windows release. I did hear rumors that existing Vista drivers should work in the main, so time may tell with that, we are in the beta period after all.

It took Creative up to the time of Vista being shelved to come out with drivers that "support" existing cards, so who knows what will happen. (secretly I do think they enlisted the help of that guy who released his own hacked ones, and got a clause in the contract to shut-the-hell-up about it)

I see the future.. I see Creative releasing new cards that u have to buy for the first year in order to get a card that'll work, then drivers will follow later.

Typical shoddyness perhaps.

have you tried installing the latest drivers using compatibility mode?

it works for my auzen prelude

Hey man, I just created a new account on here to let you know that your problem can be easily solved by right clicking on the set up file, selecting the "Compatibility" and ticking the checkbox that says "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and making sure that Windows XP SP 2 is selected. It passes the OS check, installs the driver (you might have to click okay for a windows message), after set up is complete it will give you a restart message, click Later, launch WMP and play a tune see if it works.

Tested on X-Fi Extreme Music on Windows 7 64-bit Public Beta.

Chris, I have a Beta copy of Windows 7 Ultimate and to date (although not very long) there are no options for supporting any of the Creative Labs products. It would have to be onboard support only at this time.

I am looking into this and will update as soon as I know anymore. Also anybody out there with information relating to this, i would be much appreciated for your info.
