It looks to just be a PCI-E 1x interface. I found them on eBay for $18. If it will work, I'll pick one up to replace the onboard sound on the Sabertooth.
That looks like the card from the Crosshair Formula III? It should work but i recommend getting a better sound card like a XONAR DX, that's what I use for my Sabertooth. I still have not figured out why ASUS does not implement their own Xonar technology in their boards.
I think I'm just gonna roll with the Realtek onboard. From all of the reviews I gathered on it, it's one of the best Realtek chipsets available. Users reviewing it could not distinguish a difference between it and an Audigy 2. That's good enough for me!
Only works on the mobo it was supplied with, some of the bits for the audio are still on the boards so just ploning it in a different mobo it wont work.
I have always been very happy with Realtek audio never an issue at all. I had both of the CHIV boards one had Realtek (formula) and the other had Supreme FX (Extreme) and I would be hard pressed to say I heard a difference
