Ok so I'm in the market for a new rig, been waiting for ivy bridge but its kinda disapointing.

So My question is for someone that wants to spend the least amount possible BUT play anything maxed out without shuttering etc which train should i get onto the Z77 or the X79 cause the way I see it the price diference isint that much for the high end stuff!

Note this is a gamming rig will be doing light photoshoping on it too nothing special though.

Ceck attached pic to see what i've came up with so far but note thats only for reference.

BUDGET 3000 euros or less!

Suggestion on where I can save money are very welcome without compromising performance too much.

added a 1000w psu cause maybe in the future I might consider 3x sli and I will be overclocking it.

PS water cooling will come latter on when i get some more €€€€

Thanks in advance!!!!

the motherboard you added to the Z77 cart is an G1Assassin which is a X79 board.

If you plan to watercool, you should get another case. With the T600 you will even have problems with fitting a H100. So you won't get a decent watercooling in there. Especially when you want to put the gpu under water as well.

I will look for some more suitable cases and post them or edit this post.

also if you go X79 definitely get a quad channel ram kit, your triple channel there would be a waste of money especially a 2000mhz one. also for either build you would really only need an AX850 power supply.

switch 810 would be an option.

otherwise you could take a look at the Cosmos II (tom has proven that dual gpu and a cpu no problem is in that case)

800D from corsair

the Elysium from xigmatek

Additionally you could take a look at Lian Li or Mountains Mod ones but they are pretty expensive.

I would go with either a Cosmos II or an Switch 810.

Gaming - go for z77

I agree. ´For gaming a overclocked i7 for Z77/68 is more than enough, but mention if you want to overclock that this not really one of the strengths of the Ivybridge- CPU is.

Not a big fan of spending loads on a case so 810 will probably be my choice gonna have it under a desk so no one is going to look at it either

I think triple sli doesn't increase performance enough for spending 500€ on another 680.

Yeah I'm thinking in a couple of years if it starts to drag I might add another 680 by then drivers should be mature enough to add a bit more performance. 2x 680 should be more than enough for now...

Think the guys would be better informed if you gave a budget, and exactly what components you need to buy.

(then all hell will break loose, with uploaded pics of shopping carts and allsorts - even from me if I'm free tonight!!)

Budget 3000 euros or less

What I need is a solid gamming beast! ill updade 1st post with budget!

Also read up that getting standart 680's and flashing them with oc version bios Id get the same improvements might consider saving some €'s there too
