It's not a cheap hobby either. Just to run my leccy car I would be looking at £20 a time in damages/tyres. My car was so fast it would eat a set of tyres in one session. And it's almost like they were purposely designed to break so you keep coming back for small parts, which also happen to be very expensive.

Its not a total write off though. Looked like a soft landing to which the engine had a greater chance of survival and the most expensive part of the build. So yeah a little humor behind it is allowed :)

Aye, the RC gear deffo where the money is. Most cars and planes are quite cheap as it goes, it's the crap that goes in them. Mind you my Cougar KR was expensive but then it would be, being all carbon/alu/ti.

The jet in that thing probably cost £12k+
 
Carbon fiber is expensive. One way to strengthen wood is to burn it believe it or not. Just enough to make it black but not on fire. Then if you put wood oil on it it'll be much stronger. That's what they do with axe handles to support the intense shock the wood receives and prolong it life before breaking.

One other way is to get some thin metal, like a carbon metal, that's been through the hardening and temper stages and then screw it into the wood to really increase structural integrity. Or if that's to expensive sheet metal would probably do it although sheet metal isn't all the hard but it's tough and won't take much damage if it gets hit.

Yeah nevermind what I said lol. You'll need carbon fiber for a build like that. I thought it was a small plane:D

HAHA the Python, Java, C++, and HTML really got me
Mostly those because I have no experience with the others^_^
As a side note, I really hated Java. Personally i'd rather use C++. It was fine up until I tried the GUI in Java. My lord the most verbose and convoluted thing I have ever come across. Never again!

This happened today.

OH GEEZ! These computer questions when I go to visit family. Just before eating Thanksgiving Dinner at my brother's house today, "Uncle Fred, I have my old desktop, how can I turn it into a killer gaming system?" Me without even thinking immediately said, "Throw it in the trash bin and spend $6000.00 on a new one." Grand nephew, "Thanks." Then he went back to his room.

lol Alien Computer Services (TM, C ETC) closed its doors many years ago mate. I get bombarded with questions and ETC every time there is a social gathering among my family and I just play dumb. I got sick of being (free I may add, not even a bottle of coke) the technical department for my entire family.

Many of them seem to think that because working on computers and software is "easy and requires no labour" that they shouldn't have to pay for it. It's super, super stressful. Like the other day my mother says "I've written out a list can you go online and do an Asda order?" without thinking that she has no email addy, no Asda account, etc etc etc. So she doesn't realise it means about an hour of filling out forms and stress before you can even order the bloody stuff.

So yeah, I don't know if you were being sarcastic or what but that is how I am with my family now. If they start asking prodding questions I just throw up a barrier to make them think otherwise. I'm not being horrid, but they want me to do all of the stressful and annoying stuff (opening accounts, verifying stuff, not getting the email so having to bugger around for an hour contacting Asda etc etc).

It is always a lot of work. They think I can tell them how to tweak it and spend no money. A friend online just the other day asked for help. I was shocked, he is a retired programmer and has a problem with his ladies laptop. He is a smart guy and in the past, you could not tell him anything about computers, he knew it all he thought, but he was asking for help. Asking me and a retired mutual friend who had her own custom computer business. She private messaged me and said, "What? Mike is asking for help? Did he fall on his head?" She could not believe it either. We all got it figured out, but it was hard long distance, a nasty bit of malware. I was surprised at things he'd not done. Maybe he is getting old and the ole brain is fading.
 
A nurse is doing her rounds when she pulls a rectal thermometer out of her top pocket.
That's just great she says some asshole's got my pen :P
