Hey guys, this is my first post so sorry if im a bit of a noob.

Anyways, i have been looking at 2TB hard drives but i cant decide on what drive to get. I will be using two of the drives in RAID 1 for storing movies, pictures, music and virtual machines (i will be using a 120 gig SSD for windows 7 and programs).

Also, will i notice a difference in speed between a 5400rmp drive and a 7200rpm drive.

Thanks for reading

If you wanna go cheap get the WD Caviar Greens. If you wanna go expensive get the Caviar Blacks. If you just need mass storage the greens are fine. If you're a speed freak get the blacks.

It all depends on what you think is value for money.

+1

One thing to is

Greens have 3 years warranty

and Blacks have 5 years warranty.

Thanks for all the advice guys.

I think now i will get two Samsung Spinpoint F4 2TB drives in RAID 1 for media (the 2TB WD Blacks are a little out of my price range considering i need two drives). Ill then put the VMs on that RAID array and see what the performance is like and if necessary, purchase smaller, faster drive for the VMs.

Once again, thanks for ll the advice. I'll be sure to come to these forums again.
