Welcome to the Windows 7 Beta Customer Preview Program

stupid page isnt working for me, i submit my details and it takes ages and ends up doing a live search.

Error

The site is currently experiencing technical difficulties, please check back in the next business day.

tis what im getting.

I guess it's microsofts language for: our servers are seriously overloaded because we did not expect this many beta testers.

No blame on microsoft though, I bet this generates an insane amount of network traffic.

To download the ISO's, paste these links into IE

32bit: wb.dlservice.microsoft.com/download/6/3/3/633118BD-6C3D-45A4-B985-F0FDFFE1B021/EN/7000.0.081212-1400_client_en-us_Ultimate-GB1CULFRE_EN_DVD.iso

64bit: wb.dlservice.microsoft.com/download/6/3/3/633118BD-6C3D-45A4-B985-F0FDFFE1B021/EN/7000.0.081212-1400_client_en-us_Ultimate-GB1CULXFRE_EN_DVD.ISO

it should ask to install an activex control (Akamai Download Manager). after the download manager installs, you might have to re-paste the link into IE again, but it should ask where you want to save the file and then open the ADM to begin downloading

[edit]

Or without a download manager:

32bit: Windows7 32bit

64bit: Windows7 64bit

Pasted it into Safari, works fine atm. Pretty quick too, the 64bit has done 6% whilst I type this.

EDIT: crapped out @ 72% with no resume. Something about the filesize changing on the server. I'll try the extra linkage. Very much Rep-worthy btw.

Nope not working now.

It goes to the Windows homepage.

(I dont even remember this happening with the Windows Vista Beta time)

Sounds like the geeks of the world crashed their server or something, as the page is gone, the downloads don't work, did we scare them off? Or is someone laughing manickly as he toys with us

Update on Windows 7 Beta Availability

Due to very heavy traffic we’re seeing as a result of interest in the Windows 7 Beta, we are adding some additional infrastructure support to the Microsoft.com properties before we post the public beta. We want to ensure customers have the best possible experience when downloading the beta, and I’ll be posting here again soon once the beta goes live. Stay tuned! We are excited that you are excited!

*sigh* I will check back tomorrow... really would be easier just getting the actual OS off a bit torrent place and waiting for the servers to spring into life for your prod key, oh well no rush I guess, thanks for the update Pyr0

Download just finished, took about 4 hours the second time round, dropping from 700k to 200k.

First try with the manager was doing a solid 1.6m a second but crapped it.

I was already on the beta today ;) but still need a key.. so i'll probably redownload and reformat (if there is any updates etc).

redownload? why would you do that?

if you are running one of the leaked builds, don't worry, they are exactly the same as the official isos ;)

i can still get a good 2MB+/sec from the direct links *shrug*
