So I started this thread since I was looking to get a 120GB SSD quite soon; started looking at those sexy RevoDrives initially a few months back before the SATA 6Gbps drives started mass rollout, but decided I stick with the 2.5" form factor to be able to pass on this SSD for use in a laptop when I choose to upsize my SSD a few years down the road.

At the moment , I have just two options so far for my eventual 120GB SSD. First is the OCZ Vertex 3 Max IOPS, and Corsair Force GT. Doing some reading around Crucial m4 get some weird bench scores, there are noticeable score split between Crucial m4 and OCZ Agility 3 120GB -> 240GB drives. Corsair state their Force 3 SSDs have equivilent specs beside different flash, but the bench show a noticeable gap between them and the Force GT. But in the end, the most consistent scores for 120GB SSDs are with the two drives mention, Vertex 3 Max IOPS and Force GT.

I'm leaning towards the OCZ since the Corsair is still quite new and I need to breeze through more reviews to feel more confident with it. The Force GT's red shell while the bee's knees for an ASUS ROG build for example, might look like a fire alarm button in my (blue-)/grey build. Maybe I'll just hide its red butt in one of the 3.5" caddies.

Thoughts?...

Not really a whole heap between them tbh, but from what I can gather the OCZ is a btr performer than the regular Force and GT ssd's, ultimately do you think it's worth the extra £12 - £15 for the Force GT over the OCZ when your not gaining anything, as things start to get a bit pricey at that point. Imo I'd go with the Vertex 3, as it still out performs the Force GT in some tests.

But I'd suggest you go take a look at the new Mushkin Chronos ssd's

Still no reviews on the Mushkins sadly though.

Am very interested in the Chronos myself but need to see how they do.

Sorry, I do not know enough about either of those, Tom hooked me up with a Kingston v+ 100 ssd and I am loving it.

Chronos look good.

What I went for: the Crucial M4 128GB. Flashed the firmware from 001 to 002, none of the LPM-related system hang ups, and, most importantly for me, at 70% full, it was delivering very similar speeds to when it only had Windows on it.

Its my reccomendation, and I think its a great SSD. Uses the Marvell Controller.
