Sabertooth X99 To X99 Stealth Satin Black

Dicehunter

Resident Newb
So I'm quite happy with my rig so far, Love the Sabertooth X99 as I'm not a fan of mobos with lights so it's perfect for my tastes, But the colour of the armor needs to change as currently it's a beige'ish gray, It needs to go.

I'll be starting the mod once the materials arrive i.e sand paper, Paint, Thick plastic card etc.... which will be used to replace any logos that I cut out or sand over.

Current look of the mobo 14/02/2017

I'll update when the process starts within the next week or so :)

Looking forward to seeing how this turns out bud :)

Gorgeous bud, love the monochrome style.

Should be interesting

Thank you :)

It'll look a hell of a lot more uniform once I paint the armor to match the black of the card, Case, Remove any Sabertooth branded logos etc...

I'll also be getting a few Cablemod cable combs as generic cable combs don't seem to fit Cablemod cables.

I'll be getting 3 x for each of the PCI-E cables, 2 x for the 24 pin and 1 x for the 8-pin EPU.

I'll also be getting the replacement black rubber corners from Corsair for my Corsair ML140 Pro White LED fans.

I'm toying with the idea of putting 2 x white LED strips under the mobo, 1 x under the bottom side and 1 x under the right side for some feint underglow.

All in all I should be done within the next 4 weeks'ish :)

That's because their cables are thinner than anything else you can get. I had the same problem so ended up making my own cables up.

Stupidly I bought all the cable combs I needed from E22 before actually researching cable sizes, At least I have spares if anyone can use them ^_^

I thought you were using that EVGA Power bridge to shift the PCI-e cables out of sight?

btw, i know its personal preference. But the carbon vinyl covering on your SSD and HDD does quite fit in your rig. I think you would make it look much better using matt black. As it is now, it stands out a little too much. :)

The powerlink isn't compatible with cables that have the little tabs facing the other way sadly.

Good call on the vinyl, I'll see if some matte black vinyl is for sale anywhere so it will look more stealthy compared to what it is now :)

Well the satin black paint was ordered a few days ago but won't be with me until Tuesday apparently, The Cablemod cable combs should be next Friday, Extra fine grit sandpaper is ready to go and now I'm looking into some braided PWM fan extensions and braided internal USB cables.

Time to get rid of that tiny fan over the IO that does SFA ;)

My original idea was to get a 40mm white LED fan and run it on the lowest volts possible just for a bit of bling but seeing as no one makes them I'll be modding the plate that covers the fan space to remove the X99 branding so it's just blank and then spray it satin black along with the rest of the armor.
