WD Livewire powerline problem

Hey guys,

I recently purchased a WD Livewire Kit model no: WDBABY0000NBK. I have set it all up correctly using the procedure shown on the diagram and on the CD, but whenever I try browsing the internet through any browser I can't seem to load anything. However when I use a game client like Steam to download a game it works perfectly fine giving me a fairly good connection.

My router is downstairs in our study and my computer is upstairs in my room, as they are on different circuits would this be the problem?

I was hoping the powerline would simply give me a better download speed and ping levels but it doesn't seem as easy as people tell you :/

Have you got your browser settings set up correctly? If you plug your pc directly into the router can you browse then?

I've just moved house hence I now have to use the powerline but in the old house I was plugged directly into the router and it worked perfectly. Just updated my Ethernet Drivers in case it was that, no luck.

Can you use the 2 powerline units in the same room just to test them? Have you got a laptop to try the powerline from upstairs by diabling its wifi? That way you can see if its the location or specific to your pc.

I might be able to use my step-dads laptop later to test but not at the moment. I've tried on 3 browsers IE, FF and chrome but nothing.. and now origin can't connect but steam can :S

Tested it, seems to be the location as doesnt work on the laptop upstairs but fine downstairs. But still says im connected to the network.. strange :S

So you can use the powerline adapters in the same room without any problems to browse the internet, but as soon as you try and use it upstairs it stops working but Steam connection works both upstairs and downstairs?

Have you tried running ipconfig from a command prompt? Also try and ping your router or another pc and see if you get a response.
