Water Cooling Project

Well next year in school we have been told that we have to think of a project to do, research it and construct it. I was thinking about a water cooled new rig. Think this is a good idea or can you think of any other ideas to do with computers that I could do?

Just to give you an idea..some people are building cars etc!!

that sounds like a great idea! you should try researching and constructing your own CPU, it doesnt have to work, right? ;)

or you could sticky tape two CPUs together and have yourself not only a duel cored cpu, but a duel cpu :)

hmmm good thinking but seems a bit expensive to buy 2 cpu's. maybe ill just cut one in half and do the same thing??!!!

omg! omg i just had a great idea! if you dont cut it in half in the first place.. you wont have to put it back together!

I think its a great idea. Maybe you could get SLi and waterchill both the cpu and dual gpu's. Now THAT would be wkd. Plus you could water chill two HD's in a RAID array.

You could compare the heat output to another PC without watercooling and measure db ratings with/without water as well.

Plus you could show the extra benefits of water chilling by OC'ing CPU/GPU's - keep us informed if you do do it!!

Cheers! RAID aint too expensive really, just two SATA drives really. My mobo support two RAIDS and it was only £60.

As for SLi - you could get two 6600GT's if you save up - £120ish each and you can SLi them. That would be sweet.

Bench them with some tests and games and compare results/noie/temps with/without water chilling.

Not only would that be a good project, I'm sure loads of people would appreciate the reviews on the web!! (me included) :D

hmmmvery good. RAID seems like a waste of a hard drive to me though. i have no prblems with ide and sata would be a big improvement anyway. what raid setup do you have?

I don't have one at the moment. Waiting to afford two WD 10kRPM raptors (76gb ones). I like the idea of RAID. Offers excellent access times and back ups for problems.

Wasn't saying you have to! No seriously I was just suggesting stuff!

Gotta wait and get my RAM first!

1 6800gt outperforms 2 6600gt's in most everything, especially high resolution stuff w/ aa and af turned all the way up

Rock the 2 x 74gb Raptors :) Those suckas tear up the pavement, they're bloody fuckin fast.

I like the watercooling idea for your project... But if u wanna really impress the other kiddies in class I'd phase change it and be like what now suckaz! Or.... You could pull a Tom's Hardware Guide and put liquid nitrogen to it :D
