WARNING : hacked OR beta bios and the Mach II

Just a word of warning for those of you using a hacked or beta bios with your motherboard and attempting to run a Mach II. Don't if you can help it!

I have had a couple of Mach II's come back to me recently with corrupted firmware - the unit fires up as soon as you connect the mains and you have no control over it. The ONLY fix is to re-flash the firmware - easier said than done in some cases. Some do not even work after that point without my intervention.

So for those of you with a hacked or beta bios, be aware that if you flash the firmware you might run into problems.

whats the point in downloading unoffical ones? i use the asus update thing itself so it shud be official ones i get, correct?

Yeah they will be the official ones m8. Some are hacked to provide better stability and overclockability.

I was one of these unfortunate people :(

My NF7s with D22 3DFire tictac BIOS got me the few more Mhz i needed to hit 2.9Ghz on my 3000+ b4 i changed to mach2, going AMD64 now tho so won't be happenin again :D

Have a project in the working, gonna be in the phase change section along with Phils <PROJECT CHROME>, keep your eyes open ;)

thanks for the tip Phil... ;)

BTW i noticed the control software 1.23 for the mach 2 GT is out...

i hope they are flashed with the Mach 2 GT logo now :D cos i didnt see an updated firmware for the GT....

cant wait now....

This has always happened with my ST... I thought it was normal? I'm not running a hacked bios on my max3 either.

Yep. As soon as I plug it into the mains, the unit powers up.

I always have to turn my pc on manually too. I left it for like 5 mins once when I first got it, expecting it to turn itself on.

the custom PC article mentions that when they fitted their Mach II they had problems due to odd connector wiring - but as mine ain't arrived yet, it's difficult to understand what their issue wassw
