Vista time me thinks..

Looking for a bit of advice here. Im just wondering if my games will play just as well on Vista as on XP. At least without a bit difference. Currently im playing Crysis Warhead on Meduim settings at about 30-40fps whats that likely to drop too?

I think if u made ur memory 4 gig, u'll not notice much performance difference at all in dx9 games.

Well i have another 2GB DDR2 ram at home but its a slower speed

So you think with another 2Gb ram i wont notice a difference?

Yeah, it'd be really unfortunate if u added a slower 2g to ur existing 2g as the mobo will go with the slowest speed in the dimm array.

How much of a disadvantage that would be ? I can't be sure. Whether they'll even like each other being non-matching sticks, can't be sure.

1 thing tho, u get them working and ur Vista will prefer it to 2g. Unless the speed drop is really dramatic.

Yeah the speed drop is dramatic. Ahh well im going to buy another 2GB in a week or 2 when i get paid so ill just deal with it till then

Instead of buying 2g kits, have u thought of buying a 2x2g kit ?

If ur new kit is still packed well, is there a chance u can return it ?

Thats a great idea actually as i only brought the RAM this monday. Overclockers.co.uk are usually really good with stuff like thats so ill send it back (if they alow it) and get a 2x2GB kit then atleast i have room for more ram

Edit: I have decided instead to buy the 4GB kit anyway so i have 6GB. I have Vista Ultimate 64bit running now and i must say pleasently suprised. Running all games at same FPS So go go Vista!
