just wanted to what what you guys think of the Corsair AX850 pro series or is there something better out there for kind of the same money? i like the idea that its a full modular psu tho so you dont have to have unwanted cables in there

i was thinking of buying one to replace my current psu as the wires keep falling out the 24 pin motherboard plug.

Its one of the best,if not the best 850w psu today. You wont regret owning a corsair ax850.

I've had mine for nearly a year, and its never missed a beat - rock solid. I have heard of people having some issues with coil whine - but Corsair's customer service is meant to be one of the best.

if your in the uk scan have a 1000W silverstone fully modular psu 80 plus gold psu for £130 so i would buy that but the ax850w is a quality unit just a bit pricy imho (especially as you can buy a 1.2kw psu for £10 more or a 1000w for £15 less)

I've got one - it's awesome. Sure, it's more expensive than the alternatives, but you pay for quality. And those black cables work a treat too.

It's a great PSU, really easy to use, and I've never really heard it. Exactly what you want. And cable management is a breeze because it's modular.

My view. bring out your wallet and buy it

owned it for a week now no issues and she doesnt spin up at all gotta love the fan profile it has

+1 to many replies. Also it is damm good looking psu, it got the <Gold> ceritified and it got a very nice guarantee time of 7 years.

Guess I'll be sticking with the AX650 then, I was looking for alternatives but everybody says it's the best. Shame it's so expensive, I suppose you get what you pay for.

The Enermax/ Lepa PSU's are a good alternative, the Lepa series are identical to the more expensive Enermax, even though they are made by them. The G900 is the same price as the Modu 87+ Gold series and is £45 cheaper, just another alternative that is a bit cheaper, it also has the fan-off when its not under high load.

ive been debating between this PSU and the HX850 also by Corsair. is the AX850 that much better?

there both great psu's the main diff of course is gold vs silver cert the modular vs semi modular the AX only has 4 6+2pin pci-e while the HX has 6 (but I wouldnt tri anything on it lol not enough amps) and the AX has a hybrid fan which allows for off 505 and 100% depending on load. And has alot more current protections on board over the HX IMHO its worth the 20$ more

As I understand both the 850Watt HX and AX units are built on Seasonic bases. The AX is built on an X Series platform, the HX is not.

However, the HX is a brilliant unit as well. It's only semimodular mind you, and the looks are different.

I've been up close with both PSUs and they're both pretty quiet. At this point, I would say the major difference for you should be what looks best with your build.
