Using water to clean Cosmos 2?

Hi, I've got a Cosmos 2 case, and the mesh on the doors get full of dust and there's no way to clean it. Would it be wise to unhinge the door and run it under a stream of water? Obviously I'd let it dry completely before putting it back on. I'm just concerned as to whether it would at all damage the door, be it through the material its made out of, etc.

yeah i can't fit a damp cloth in between the honeycomb mesh. I don't think there's any metal that will come into contact with water. Also, it shouldn't a problem in any case if I dry it quickly, right?

Is it just the plastic mesh? I'd just avoid it. But if it does get onto any metal and there is a slight chip in the paintwork and the actual metal gets wet then it could get rusty I guess, hoovering works. I used to do it with the Thermaltacky Armor and the Cosmos, no need to get it wet.

Haha at Toms comment!

Edit: Is it the front panel? I'm not sure what it's made of but the front of the original cosmos was aluminium, not worth getting it wet.

well, i wet it with maybe 10ml of water on the one honeycomb bit. all seems well, i'll let it dry then put it back on. If nothing bad happens, i'll do the rest.

I've washed my Storm Trooper front mesh panels twice in nearly 2 years and they haven't rusted, your choice I guess ^_^
Mainly, I use the attachment with the hoover that has like a brush on the end :)
Also I am a clean freak, I hoover and clean the whole place lots yet my rig still gets a little dusty :/

yeah i share theDTP's outlook on dirt. The case sits literally 7 metres from a busy dirt road. fml i guess

When I still had a case with mesh I used water maybe twice a year to wash the front panel. I don't think there is a real threat of rust if you dry them properly afterwards. It has to get trapped somewhere for it to start rusting, really.

so did you take out all your components and wash the whole thing or just take out removable bits and replace them after drying them?

Not entirely correct, since rust is a form of corrosion (by way of oxidation), it can occur at any time that the requirements of that form of corrosion exist. That is: bare metal, exposure to sufficient amount of oxygen and a catalyst to start the reaction.

Having said that, unless you have scratches deep enough to expose the metal, giving it a quick run down with some water, and then drying it off shouldn't hurt much, if at all.
