Upgrading memory

Hi, I have an old Mesh PC from ~3 years ago, P4 2.8, with 512Mb of RAM currently, and am looking to upgrade it to 2Gb. The motherboard has 3 slots, so im thinking 2x1Gb is the way to go. Just looking for some suggestions as to what type of memory to buy and where the best deals are to be had from?

cheers,

cheers. are there anythings to look out for, ie. only certain types of memory that will work in a given motherboard?

Well best to stick with the main manufactorers of RAM:

Crucial, Corsair, GSkill, OCZ GEIL maybe

I assume your board takes DDR not DDR2?

tbh im not sure exactly what it takes, would need to have a closer inspection, will the existing memory says what sort it is?

Excellent, thanks for that - need to get the PC repaired first though, it had a small bang :)

Eek, what happened to it mate? Ya get it fixed and back up to speed yet?

We're standing by to help with any RAM suggestions for the beast :)

Hey,

yeah, the fuse in the power cable had blown and also the PSU then died, so have just this last week done some surgery and it is back in the world of the living. Memory upgrade is on hold for the present.. but I did run the cpu-z util you recommended and it shows as DDR and SDRAM. Thanks again for the help :worship:

cheers!
