Updating Firmware on Mach2 + GT (non-running rig)

Just thought I would post this for anyone else who is having problems updating the firmware on there Mach units.

Get all the software and firmware from here - http://extremeprometeia.com/software.htmlhttp://nventiv.blue-nexus.com/

How-To

1) Find a second working PC with a motherboard USB header, or air cool the one you plan on installing the Mach on.

2) Install the Mach2 software on the system and plug the Mach2 into the USB header.

3) Unzip the firmware file and place the .ste file in a folder you know.

4) Find "Bootload" in the Mach2 software root directory (if you can't find it I have a standalone version I can send you).

5) Open Bootload and check it is seeing the Mach2

6) Press "Bootlad" and a dialog comes up asking for the directory for the .ste file

7) Select this file and hit ok

8) The Mach2 then fires up and says on the display "Bootloading .... load of random numbers (This is the hex code for the PIC in the controller just ignore it).

9a) Mach2 shuts down and Bootloader says "Download Complete" or something similar.

9b) To be extra sure repeat steps 4-9a again (but this isn't needed but makes sure there was no corruption, as I had mine corrupt on me straight after doing it once.)

10) Plug Mach2 back into the system it's to be used with (unless it was already on that one).

11) Do number 2 ONLY on the new system and hey presto it works

Can anyone hook me up with the best firmware for my gt's as the link above isn't working,also does it have to be done exactly as above or can i still update through my up and running rigs ?Thanx all.

Thought the GT had its own specific software

thats just the control center, i think the firmware is the same

The GT uses it's own firmware i believe due to the startup temps etc being different. Have to check with Phil though.

If you go to the ECT website then downloads there is a link there for the GT firmware which is 826 iirce

I believe you are correct. The 821 firmware is the Mach 2 AMD Fix firmware and shouldn't really be used with GT's I don't think.

The standard MkII should be okay with any of the bottom three, I think I went with the revised edition, v821

Does the firmware for GT work on old Mach II version?

The old Mach II and Mach II GT uses the same type controllerboard, no?

I think they may well do, but I wouldn't use the same firmware!

The GT is a different unit, runs different gas if I remember right - and I don't think it's the done thing

First I'm gonna try a firmware upgrade to 821, when the Mach gets here.

If I can't get contact to PC, I'm gonna try another USB cable.
