Updating Firmware on Mach2 + GT (non-running rig)

Nice :)

I think a thread with all known/common Mach II/std/GT problems/issues and how to fix them, could be very useful.

Just my 2 cents.

Hi again.

Now my Mach II have been resting for almost 12 Hours.

But I have some questions still regarding updating firmware.

If I put power cable in the Mach II in the back.

Start my aircooled PC and load Windows.

Connect USB cable properly to PC (I have installed Software and drivers 1.23).

Will I be able to load bootloader if all goes well or will the Mach II start to cool?

good question - it's been a while and i can't remember - it may start to cool so keep the head away from the computer.

You will be able to load bootloader too - I think you need to connect the molex from the mach to a power source also.

Cheers

Mav

The unit will start to cool if memory serves right. But once the firmware is on it should stop I think. It's not a problem it cooling, the firmware will only take a min max to upload to the PIC in the Mach II.

I did mine at least 30 times with no issues so don't worry.

My Mach II did fire straight on and began to cool when I plugged the power cable in + all 4 diodes was lit(corrupt firmware I think).

Then I plugged the USB cable in MB USB header pin 1 and after some trial and error Windows found new hardware and I installed PCC software from CD.

Loaded bootloader and finally flashed firmware v. 821. After that the Mach II unit went to standby and the LCD display shows standby and temps etc. Also the green diode on the back is blinking as it should when power cable is attached.

Yes I guess so :)

USB connection and firmware once again :D

Now I only need to find a case with 120mm fans that fit the Mach II and a Socket 754/739/740 CPU KIT.

Just out of interest how long does it take?

I've just selected the file and the mach 2 powered on, not its been saying "Boot Loading

Waiting"

On the lcd for about 10 minutes

It's very quick to flash the firmware - it takes about a minute if that. Make sure the USB is recognised in the device manager. If it isnt, delete it manually and do a refresh of the hardware. It will then recognise and install, providing your USB cable is correctly wired.

Yeah it all seemed connected, detected and installed.

The software gave alarms since it wasnt powered on and the evap temp was 19C, so it read that fine.

Then went to boot loader and selected the new firmware to flash and clicked ok.

The mach 2 fired into life and said Boot Loader .....Waiting

Then i realised it was getting cold while connected to the dothan while the dothan was turned off so got scared since the dothan woudnt boot and the waiting message had been on for about 25mins at that point so i unplugged the mach 2 which wasn't the best idea but i wanted to get it off the dothan

I'm running XP Pro x64. Are there any drivers for this OS? When I try loading the CD that comes with the Mach II, I get the standard "not compatible with x64 OS" message.

Haven't been able to find them in these forums.

Sorry,no there aren't any 64bit drivers available yet for prometeia's,and its about time there was.C'mon ECT,i've been waiting patiently 6 months now.

So all I can do is wait like you have been?

This won't affect or damage the performance of the machine, will it? It's my first time using phase change.

Yes,i'm afraid we have to wait.No you will not damage the machine in any way by running without the software.

No Fan Controll After Firmware upload

Uploaded V937 to fix an issue when if system was rebooted i would get a red light and an error " Missed Shutdown" on display.

This was the reply to an email from extreme cooling technologies.

I only know about the two latest firmware versions

v821 had some problems with some of the LGA775 MB and that was solved with v846.

v937 can run 8 sec. longer without power from the PSU, this is made because some MB's had a problem when the board was restarted or if the reset switch was used.

Best Regards

Verner
After update i get no fan control from the controll centre they seem to be on turbo all the time.

Attempted to reflash to a lower firmware but as bootloader starts to upload the compressor switches off the restarts and i get a no mains error on the display.

Any ideas.

I've just updated to V937 with no issues at all. It now dos'nt shut down with intel cpu's when all you are doing is altering things in the bios, which is good. Control center works as normal, as well. I suspect you may have had a bad flash, try it again.
