TTL gets his 1800X....

Yeah, the board is sexy other than the lack of an IO shield.

It's easily sorted with a dremel and some 3mm acryl tbh.

Took me about ten minutes. OK so it's not as nice as one that wraps all over but it looks a darn sight better than just a raw IO.

There's a guide on YouTube by a pro PC modder that's pretty decent. It's not hard thing to do, no. It's a hard thing to get right, but with the tower heatsink I'm planning the individual IO housings will be barely visible.

The Hispanic bloke? yeah I think I have seen that. A mate of mine made one that he bent to cover the ends. First attempt was terrible but he nailed the second. Bit of brushed black vinyl and Bob's your aunt's live in lover :)

Yeah, that's him. Quite a few PC modders are not American. It's evenly spread across the globe which is cool to see. Enthusiasm for PC's is as popular in Russia as in Australia, the UK, the States, etc.

You gotta tell me how you did that dude... Got interested in doing something similar with my Strix Z270I Gaming motherboard.

It was very easy, but only because I have a vinyl plotter. I designed it in Photoshop using MM for the size (as this comes out perfectly with my plotter) then cut it, then cut the acrylic using a dremel.

It's like a five minute job man.

The best mods I have ever seen are Russian. They're big into old military tech and old Russian cars..

You mean JP Modified? He's Filipino. Awesome acrylic work from that guy!!! Love his videos.

One of my favorite mods/scartch builds ever was the Wall-E PC (made in Russia). Thing was a work of art. http://gizmodo.com/5204702/unbelievably-detailed-wall-e-pc-case-mod

Just the sheer amount of fab work done on that makes me go weak in the knees.

Good luck Tom. You're not gonna get much sleep at all for 2 days. Just know we all appreciate the sacrifice you are making to show us some reliable performance figures:)

The addition of the different fan and AIO is concerning, but also possibly a bit cheeky.

AMD have been going on about how the performance of the CPU's increase with extra cooling. So they provide an air cooler that shifts more air for extra cooling and a decent AIO. Both of which are higher performing coolers than the cooler that will be shipped no doubt.

So it does scream that press samples will automatically perform above a unit bought as a consumer with their stock coolers.

I disagree for the 1800x. But for the other ones yeah I see your point as valid. I think if someone is spending $500 on a CPU, they can definitely get a quality cooler.

I feel like I'm extra lucky cause I get an extra Birthday Present from Tom as I get to watch all the videos on my Birthday!
Genuinely excited to see how these CPU's perform

Yes but for AMD to supply each chip with a "quality" cooler would seriously inflate the final price, I'd liked to have seen the 1800X with its OEM cooler rather than being shiped to reviewers with OTT high end coolers.. it's left me a bit meh if I'm honest given they have been giving high praise to the Wraith cooler so much, so what gives???

I'm sat on the edge of my seat waiting for the review.

In all honesty when i found out that it had the industrial fan my first thought was that they went with that fan because it was all black, that way all of the first Ryzen review builds actually look good. If they want good publicity once the embargo lifts then making the systems look good helps to sway people, especially people who aren't completely up to date with the latest hardware.

I agree, I would have at least liked it to include the OEM cooler as well as everything else.

Does this chip not come with a cooler from the shop?

The 6900k? no of course not. Neither does the 6800k etc. The reason? firstly they add weight and bulk and secondly Intel's stock cooler would have seen them throttling to within an inch of their lives.

As I have mentioned before, at this end of the spectrum (IE the bleeding edge) you buy a cooler, that's mandatory.
