Time Sync.

Back out of bed at 2am. Ended up downing tools at 3:30. The vanity panels are now fitted and man, what a difference it makes. All of the silver now disappears leaving only black.

Apols about pic. As I suspected it's quite dark today, with only white light (very cloudy).

Time to test its faculties.

Yup, seems like they are all there :)

Do excuse the fan noise. Obviously they are running at full pelt now and man, do they shift some air. I can't address that until the PC is smart and no longer dumb.

What you need is an internal to external USB cable. Then you can program up the Aquaero by plugging it into another PC or laptop. I made one originally (before I'd bought pinning tools) by just looking the square plug off an A-B USB lead from a printer and then soldering the wires onto the lopped off end of a spare internal-internal lead from some Aquaero stuff. If you've already got an internal-internal lead glued on, a set of cut-off pins (or resistor legs - anything of the right size) will bridge between two internal plugs.

D'you know I thought about that, then realised I don't have a laptop lmao. It would have been very, very handy though. Kinda like when they program ECUs on cars. It would also stop that (quite terrifying) noise those fans make. At £5 I wasn't expecting much but gees, they are powerful. Like really powerful. I don't even want to think about how much worse it will be once the two in the front are humming along.

I should pick up a junker laptop when I can really. Just enough to run Windows like.

Forgot to say. The clock won't work until the USB hubs receive a signal from the mobo, so sadly I can't test that yet.

Are your fans squeeling when using PWM through the AqC controller? My vardar were terrible for it via the controller.

FWIW I run a couple of Varders off an Aquaero 6 in PWM mode. One is a 120mm Furious Varder and the other is a 140mm ER Varder (Extended Range). Neither of them squeal at all but they tend to be run between 90 to 100%. The 120mm Furious exhausts hot air from my under-stairs server cupboard down about 13" of duct....hence the spec for high static pressure. Need another intake though. Is the problem you're having only when running them very slow?

Nope. I am not using PWM I am using volts dude. Mind you they may squeal, but I hear Vardars are the worst for that (and motor noise and jittering). We'll see I guess :)

More done ! decided to cover the tacky Chinese logos on the ram coolers. First I found the logo...

Changed it a little bit.

Et voila (it's more Fifty Shades Of Grey, but ho hum it's an improvement).

I had to remember to flip the memory for two. Good old X99, it flips the ram banks.

Cleaned up the CPU.

Then I used a combination of AC posts and springs but with EK bolts. They are just so much nicer looking.

And.

Next up coffee and pills, then I need to daisy chain the RGBs and tape them under the board. I also need to make an IO shield.

2 or 3 fans are fine. but hook up 8 and they will really scream when you drop them to 40-50% pwm.

They just dont like the phasing from the AqC. If I run a swiftech 8 port hub and then on the mobo, the fans are fine. Even works fine in my lamptron controller.

hmm. Careful you dont go OTT on RGB. If the light bleeds inside the case it will ruin all the contours and design. All you will see is a case washed out in a certain colour.

It's all controllable. I can switch the whole lot off if I want to :) I have separated it into zones, pretty much the same way the Alienware software does it, so I can turn off the inside but leave the outside and vice versa. Ram is on a separate channel to the halos, flow meter and LED strips. So yeah, each zone can be completely disabled.

Which after about three weeks is probably how it will end up lmao.

Ed. Don't quote me on this but I *think* you can dim the lights with the Farbwerk? I will find out soon enough :) I know you can on the Alienware lights by adding black.

Sweet, 'cause those ram sticks are awful bright lol.

That's basically why I tried to create the inside as neutral and reflective as possible. I can literally choose any colour I want and have a different rig every day that way. I don't like committing to one colour tbh, it's so 2008.

Got some spare time at last, I wanted to say a few words

First of all the bloopers which I thought were kinda funny!

That lovely pump cover I made didn't quite go as intended. It barely fits with a wedgie and the alien badge is not even visible lol. I will address that soon. Bad miscalculation though

Next up, fan extensions. I bought 6 on Amazon without checking the length. Turns out they are 150mm, so pretty useless lol. I have since ordered three more lots from ocuk, but each time my maths was crap and so I've ordered a fourth. I apologise profusely for this, as it must be annoying.

I was getting a smear on the floor screen from where it got warm and was pressing against the 3mm clear Plex layer. This has now been rectified.

What I wanted to say more than anything though was a huge thanks to all of you guys here (most namely Warchild, Cenedd and Bart) for their help, advice, and suggestions.

One thing I've always liked about myself is that I can sense the constructive part of constructive criticism and see it as advice and use it positively whilst never EVER thinking that I am perfect or beyond blatantly good advice.

My log photos are never great, I talk too much but I listen, too.

So I doff my cap to you guys. I can't do this s**t without you and this place has been the rock for me and the build.

Another thank you to Scuba Steve, who kindly sent me some RGB cables. D'you know what's weird? I used the last one to connect up the last RGB run.

Daylight ! oh how I have missed thee.

Fitted the GPU into the riser, fitted the stop plugs and uh oh we have a problem. Can you see it?

I wouldn't even mind if they were actually the same bloody size *waves fist*

azbs6Qn.jpg

Total bust that was. I guess I will have to resort back to the sodding hex wrench bolts :(

I'd be more annoyed that the logo is differently sized.

Yup could probably have pulled it off then *sigh*. Mind you, it has made me realise how much I don't want a logo on that part, so I've ordered two of these.

And will use the premium plugs to fill the holes in the res etc.

Yep and this is why I strongly recommend barrow. I don't really like the BP plugs you have either, prefer their newer ones with the knurled grip.

I have one of those in chrome (look in the back of the GPU ports) but I am terrified about paying £7 odd and getting a different logo 'cause they were trying to save on ink lol.
