Time Sync.

Got the block. Box is tatty but block still shrink wrapped and pads unused etc.

Well chuffed, will get that fitted on Monday :)

Quick update. As I said block is really lovely. Pretty thrilled, as other than about 4mm in thickness it looks close to what I wanted. I would have ordered one from BP, but that is basically why WCUK could not ship, because BP don't have them any more. So it was a case of desperately finding something similar to RGB.

Talking of RGB, I am going to dismantle one of the halos I bought, and basically use the very thin RGB strip out of that on the WB. Back plate? will try and leave the AC one on there (I think I can as it goes !) or I will try and use the stock one.

I am going to cut up the vertical mount to bring the GPU out some.

I am not getting any USB. I have connected the main run to the Hubbys, but nothing is happening yet. I can't run the rig for more than a few seconds but it does not look good. There could be a couple of reasons, either of which can't be nailed without being able to run the rig. PITA, but there you go, custom PCs eh?

I will know more next week. Oh yeah, the snake fitting has not arrived either, causing even more delays. I figure to just be patient (yeah, right) and wait it out.

Oh yeah the hose. It's really skinny and the fittings are not locking it in properly. If you pull hard you can remove it. Not happy with that, so have ordered some more (may take a while, like weeks). Black hose is almost impossible to locate, and I really don't want to run clear or what not. I may not have a choice, all depends on how close to 11mm the hose is that I ordered, 'cause the last lot was supposed to be 10mm and it is more like 9mm.

Annoying, but again not much I can do about it.

haha never rely upon others is the lesson for today.

I've ordered some more parts. The snake part did not arrive and they are now out of stock so I got two of these.

And two of these.

And hopefully that will do the job :)

OK update. Bit the bullet and removed the CPU block and fitted the AIO and my old Quadro in order to get to the bottom of the USB problem. Nothing happened at first, then when I removed and replaced the main connector Windows finally said "USB failure. One or more ports is failing to work due to insufficient power".

I disconnected the clock and screen and it sprang to life. Bit of jiggling, some solder etc and I now have the clock and screen running from the 5v of a spare SATA power connector.

It works, it actually works !

I've fitted the new block with the FE back plate and it looks gorgeous. I also took the Dremel to the vertical mount and pulled the card forward one slot, meaning everything fits as it should. Little bit of paint to do on that tomorrow, then I am literally a roll of hose away from finishing the rig.

Will try and get pics tomorrow.

Good idea, but a few issues.

1. Paint is so expensive here in the UK now because the fairy postmen won't deliver it. So that means courier, and the only one who carry it is UPS and they charge a fee so the postage is about £15. So the can of paint ends up like £20 or so.

2. I have already trashed the lino in the kitchen painting (overspray) so can't do it in here any more. I am hoping that white spirit and a mild abrasive will remove it, but I certainly don't want to add any more.

3. CBA lmfao.

It's a shame you can't buy them tbh. Like, black ones. They should all really be black these days too, not just on Titan RTX.

I tell you what I might do, though, and that is wrap the "lid" of the DVI connector with matt black.

nah. Dont use regular spray on an IO. Use plastidip. It gives the same powdered finish as the current RTX Titan, and it is removable should you wish to resell it at some point.

white spirit wont do much to cellulose paint and it wont touch 2k paints. A grey scotch brite will more than likely damage the flooring - will leave a scratch and dull surface.

you can get cellulose rattle cans for 9 pounds inc P+P on ebay

It's not 2k paint. I've used the method on all paints though and it's worked before. I wasn't going to use a scoth brite. White spirit is an oil, so it creates lubrication to stop it scratching. I could use Isoprop but it just means harder work.

Holy crap I've been doing this for over three months !!

The hose is at my mother's, so all being well next week.....

It takes as long as it takes. Been fun watching your progress ;)

Oh yeah I know man but I just couldn't believe I started this in August ! it was so hot then :D

I also bought another SSD for it (bringing the total to 5, with no spinning drives at all)

My first ever NVME. Thankfully I already have a EK heatsink I am going to put on it. I will partition it 200/800 (or whatever I am left with).
