Those little annoying F@H things ..

Oh oohhh, hope youll be running soon, and no commponents died with it.
huh.gif

Looks like no hardware damage
smile.gif
, a simple exchange of new versus old "DEAD" psu's seems to have cured the problem and all is well atm.

The impaired PSU is still in service pending future hardware changes....can't see replacing a psu for 6K PPD at this point

Shutting down my F@H cluster for four days while I'm away from home... I don't like running that much electronic hardware in an older house with questionable wiring while I'm away.

AXP2500+ Barton @ 2.00GHz (~150 PPD, lol)

Celeron 430 @ 1.80GHz (67C load, I can't overclock this thing at those temps!)

Athlon 64 X2 6000+ @ 3.10GHz

--running GTX275

Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3.00GHz

Core i5-2500K @ 4.00GHz

Tame overclocks, but it's Florida in the summertime. I'll ramp it up this winter to make up for the delays (I may have to shut down for summer entirely due to the cost of cooling this old house
sad.gif
) My Pentium 4 530 at work will still be running, it's left on all the time anyway.

It happens dude, I've had to slow down or stop a few times due to heat or cost.

Still, at least you're here and you know we all thank you for that!

Just got my electric bill... thanks to the price gouging (gouging my eyes out at this rate) of SECO it appears I'm paying ~$90-120 a month for 10k PPD (total $257 counting the AC
ohmy.gif
). I'm paring out some of my less efficient systems (-oneunit will be active on the Athlon XP 2500+ Celeron 430, the Pentium 4 530, and the CPU portion of the Athlon 64 X2 when I get home, and the i5-2500K and the E8400 will be running part-time.)

I plan to turn my Athlon 64 X2 into the "server" of the house (currently the XP2500+ is performing router duties due to an incompatibility between my modem and my router) and will be outfitting it with two GeForce GTX460 336-core cards probably near the end of next month. Until that time I'll be folding 24/7 on the GTX275 only. Once my builds are finished I'll be hopefully full-time on two GTX460s and part-time on a E8400+9800GT+GTX275 build as well as my 2500K, and might even run the V7 beta on my Radeon part-time to crank out as many PPD as I can there too.

If anyone has a card that better balances power consumption, cost, and Folding performance than the GTX460, let me know! Hoping to pick up a couple used 768MiB cards for ~$120 each.)

(tl;dr: Celeron 430s and other low end systems are not cost effective when you pay as much as I have to for electricity
dry.gif
)

That seems like a lot for 10k PPD it costs me around £15-£20 a month extra electric for folding 24/7 on my 2500K and I get around 13k PPD (not latley though, lots of BSODS
sad.gif
) .

Are you Folding on just the 2500K, or are you GPU folding as well? My 2500K is at 4.0GHz on the SMP client and combined with the GTX275 (and a host of slower CPUs) tops out at 10.5K-ish total.

The place I live is horrible for power costs.

4.5ghz on my 2500K I have a AMD GPU so it's not worth me folding on that because it uses 25% of the CPU and I get lower PPD than if I do just SMP. The company I get my electric from is putting prices up by %10 soon so the bills will be going up

I keep coming back to this thread....

Another week of full Folding as I did some research on bonus points and found that I had not been running -advmethods OR a passkey. SMP is now three cores on my 2500K as I'm Folding on my HD 6950 with the Beta 7 client. Also added a 9800GT to the mix (FAHMonitor shuts it off when my wife plays games and the system may be reconfigured soon, so we'll see how much it adds.) I want to see what everything in my house can do running full bore. After that... production will probably drop by half or more.

My Ubuntu system has been trying to submit a WU (a 6903!!!!) for a day now.
sad.gif
I can feel my bonus points ebbing away.

As much as i love the weather we're having at the mo my rigs dont
sad5.gif
talk about cooking. Gonna have to turn em off soon as my room is getting wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy to hot
cussing.gif

Afterburner 2.20 beta gave me an error message something about 'Some components of MSI Afterburner are missing, corrupted, etc...', reinstalled it twice, in the end reverted to 2.1 stable. Also
angry.gif
idiot me rebooted the computer without first pausing or quitting FAH Control, so I killed a GPU work unit at 97%. Oh well, another 2 or so hours lost. On the upside, decided to rework my Afterburner preset levels, tweaks mainly centres around lower voltages near 1GHz clocks. So far so good except beyond 980MHz, I do need to feed more than 1000mV of juice or else GPU will crash before it gets hot enough.

Same here. 2.20 B3 has stopped working. 2.10 works fine again.
blink.gif

Also, I'm now @ 80c on my 560GTX WITH the Megahalems on it. Lord knows what I'd be hitting without it. (But it's still not crashed once!!!

UPDATE: The UK heatwave is kicking my ass. The rigs are unstable and I may as well be pumping hot water around my tubes..

One i7 970 is going off, along with the 560GTX until the weather cools.

Know how ya feel m8, ive left my older rig running but the main producers are both currently off, suppose it wouldn't be so bad if the rigs were in the other room (north facing) but in here (south facing) the room just gets wayyy to hot and worst thing is it holds the temp as well even with sash windows fully open, crap for folding and crap for sleeping in
dry.gif

I suppose it swings both ways for alot of people, bad in summer if you have to use air-con or buy a separate unit (UK) for the added £££$$$ on the leccy bill then in winter you can save by not having to have any heating on in one particular room because your rigs are keeping it nice & toasty
laugh.gif

My rig was happily running about 60 max last week with all fans on max, but nope not today, it passed 70, god help those who run higher clocks for F@H.

Indeed it does, in the winter and I can squeeze a good few PPD more out of my rigs just because my house stays so cool.

not had my rig running for 2 days now way to hot for folding in the UK atm ! my i7 930 was ideling at 60c the other day
