Hello :)

Well, I've really leaped back into the hardware scene and system building again after really dropping out for a few years (Girls, Hacking, DJing and flying helicopters took over!) Last night I completed a system build for a friend, and I have another one lined up to be built next week! Busy busy busy!

One of my friends was looking for an upgrade. He already had an FX4100 and wanted to upgrade the rest of his system mostly. Thus I made some recommendations and a few day's later the deed was done.

System Specs:

Bitfenix Colossus (Red)
AMD Faildozer FX4100
Coolermaster Seidon 120XL Water Cooling
Asus Sabertooth FX990 R2
Really crap 4GB (The other stick died, else 8GB) 1333Mhz DDR3 (upgrade soon)
Gigabyte HD 7950 Windforce X3
Corsair 750 Watt PSU

Managed to clock a nice 4.6Ghz @ 1.42v idling around 32c and max at 45c
The 7950 is clocked at 1175Mhz Core and 1375Mhz Memory

Cheers!

i myself thought a long time about getting a 670 windforce, but the PCB looks so awful and i'm not a huge fan (hue) of the looks of the cooler either. so i went for a 670ftw.
i'm mentioning this because for a rig that has red in the name a blue PCB kinda doesn't fit well.
else it's a nice rig besides the RAM.
oh and the CPU, i have the same one atm unfortunately, it really is a bad CPU :(
maybe a pic of the cablemanagement?

Dat RAM. LOL so bad... AND wrong... that RAM is badong. Srsly tho not too shabby all things considered. I think once your friend upgrades to an 83xx, they'll find a pretty noticeable jump in FPS. WHen I made the switch in my girlfriend's computer her GTX 560 suddenly became USABLE (yes, it was bottlenecking a GTX 560...).

it bottlenecks everything. even my old 6870.

Yeah, I know the RAM is terrible, the processor isn't too bad to be honest. It was very pleasing to see Bioshock Infinite to run on Ultra nice and smooth.

I'm quite happy with the way the build turned out. Nice and neat just like I strive to do in all my builds.

However, I've told him to upgrade the processor and RAM when he can.

My next build next week will be fun, It's another AMD Build. AMD 8350 ;) but I won't elaborate too much.

awesome work! Could you send me a mail with your config in bios please? =) I have the same cpu and want to clock it to 4.6 :)

that's not how it works fella.
every cpu/mainboard needs different voltages to run at a certain speed, some CPUs can't run at 4.6 at all (but then you would have lost the silicon lottery pretty hard. btw, silicon lottery is the keyword here ;)). also RAM is a factor as well.
Unfortunately it seems like you will have to figure out the best configuration for your setup on your own, we can't do more than giving you tips. but don't worry, these days you can barely break anything anymore which a clear cmos couldn't fix and tinkering with your settings is a lot of fun :)

Slight necro, but it's a rig so i'll let it slide. However

don't put your email address on forums, that's how you get SPAM

.. *sigh*.

Also, why not just ask for the information in a nice place to talk, like, say a forum...? Oh look! Fancy that, you're already here! :D

Youre new arent you? Yes, yes I thought so.

Right go watch/read our overclocking guide and learn a few things including why sending you settings is a terrible idea and also why you need to put the work in to LEARN your own rig.
