fat boy chronicles - really good
stealing harvard - awesome

I liked Insidious 2 as well, I've seen a few good ones. After I watch it I usually go on IMDB and rate it then, just to keep track of what I've seen really, not for recommendations.

Escape Plan with Arnie and Stalone - was pretty good, it's no master piece but it wasn't bad.

You're Next - pretty crap.

Carrie (2013) - pretty good but exactly the same as the original.

Open Grave - had that guy from District 9 who has a really strong South African accent trying to do an American accent (badly) which just ruined the film for me.

Bad Milo - turned it off after 20mins.

Riddick - meh

Captain Phillips - pretty good

The Mortal Instruments City of Bones - thought this was pretty good, it reminded me of Underworld and Blade.

I'm surprised you don't rate Captain Philips! That was one I randomly caught at the cinema and everyone was on the edge of their seats and at the end people just exhaled like we'd been holding our breaths the whole time. People cried!

Maybe it was just that experience but that one went down as one of the better films I've seen lately.

I watched Seven Pounds again recently with the misses; intense.

i suppose i could do a feedback about everything i've watched in the past few months, which is quite a lot.
8 mile - meh

A beautiful mind - didn't expect russell crowe to work out in that role, was good

american history x - loved it because it gave good insight to poth points of view

contact - doesn't get that many good reviews but i like it, probably more because of the subject the movie is about

Das Experiment - very good movie, don't recommend watching it though if you can't watch the german original

Der Untergang - same as above

Gangs of new york - meh

God bless America - starts of very good, then gets a bit boring

Good Will Hunting - stupid ending, other than that good

Goodfellas - obviously great

Gran Torino - imdb rating seems too high. still not bad

In Bruges - great

L.A. Confidential - great

Law Abiding Citizen - The movie is very good, then they wreck it with the ending

Leon the Professional - very good

Memento - was alright, i think it only got the high rating because of the weird timeline

Requiem of a dream - overhyped, just a bunch of weird crap

Reservoir Dog - great

RocknRolla - alright

Se7en - great

Shutter Island - Leonardo Dicaprio seems to like movies which don't actually have great story telling but are very hard to grasp

Sin City - amazing

The big Lebowski - That's just like your opinion man

Bourne Collection - The original three were great, the fourth one was a waste of time

The Dark Knight rises - no idea why anyone likes that movie. maybe a 6.5 and that is only because of bane's voice. way worse than The Dark Knight

The departed - great

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - decent

The Lookout - bleh

The Prestige - at some point the movie goes full retard. until that point it was good

The Shawshank Redemption - no idea why that movie is #1 on imdb. yea it's good, but it's not #1 good.

The sixth sense - not sure if creepy or touching

The usual suspects - great

There will be blood - got kinda boring

I thought that it was a good film, personally it didn't have me on the edge of my seat, mainly because I already knew the story and what happened. It was definitely a good film and worth watching though.

I'll be seeing The Wolf of Wall Street tonight, will return to this thread later with a few impressions.

That being said I don't imagine it being bad.

Here is a trailer.

Kinda reminds me of catch me if you can, hopefully it is just as good

Das Experiment - very good movie, don't recommend watching it though if you can't watch the german original

Der Untergang - same as above

I have a few German films on DVD I really like; if you haven't seen them already I'd recommend Das Leben der Anderen, Die fetten Jahre sind vorbei, Der Baader-Meinhof Komplex, Sophie Scholl, and Goodbye Lenin!

I have Das Experiment and Der Untergang too, and I really like both of those. Lola rennt is alright I suppose, but not as good as the others. I have Das Boot which I've been meaning to watch for ages but I just lose interest whenever I try.

Sometimes I use English subtitles if I'm feeling lazy, and just try listen to what they're saying at the same time, but if I'm willing to put a bit more effort in I watch them with German subtitles because I'm able to understand much more of what they say if I read it rather than listen to it. Either way, they're a great learning tool, and I'd appreciate it if you have any other German films you'd recommend I watch :)

I got a German movie to, The Human Centipede!

I've seen it mate :L From what people were saying I didn't think it was as bad as it made it out to be. I recently watched A Serbian Film, and well let's say I won't be thinking about that again any time soon... it was much worse in my opinion.

For me it's the other way around really. i watch most movies in english. watching movies, playing games and in general listening to people speaking english taught me more of the language than any teacher ever could.
I can't recall a whole lot of good german movies anymore, i think Der Pianist was recorded in german.

That makes sense to be honest :) I try playing some games in German and I quickly get confused lol, maybe when I've got better :)

Ahh I love that film, I didn't know there was a version in German though, I'll look into getting a copy :) Cheers mate :)

Nearly every movie has a dubbed german version as well, so there are plenty of movies you can watch in german. Wouldn't recommend that though because dubbed = awful.

I watched 12 Years a Slave quite recently. What a fantastic movie. An acting masterclass from the whole cast. Some bits were difficult to watch, but were essential to the overall emotional impact of the movie (imo).

Wolf of Wall Street was surprisingly good... expected it to be a crappy comedy number, turned out to be one of my all time favorites.

Very similar to scarface, goodfellas, catch me if you can... those types of movies :)
