The Movie Thread

Created this thread for anything movie/film related, whether it's a new movie coming out, one you've recently watched or an older one.

I'll go first, this could be a busy thread if we make it. There are loads of movies coming out I want to see, and a load coming out on Blu-ray since they've finished in the cinema.

I saw this yesterday, to be honest, movies based on military are usually quite boring, I bought one a while back that was the same I think based on the Navy SEALs but part of it was filmed in first-person, I really can't remember the name, I've got it on Blu-ray at home so I'll have a look later unless someone can re-jig my memory. :) But I thought this looked ok from the trailer, The Lone Survivor, based on true events with Mark Whalberg as the main SEAL.

Have a look at the trailer here:

I recently watched Jack Reacher (Tom Cruise) and it was ok, certainly not the best Cruise film I've seen buy worthy of a watch regardless....

Straight after watching Jack Reacher I had 'The Hunger Games' to watch...
Bit of a strange film to start, but it does build the background of the players, I found that it took a good 50 minutes to get to the action part.. and another worthy watch and looking forward to the sequel...
There are a few mistakes in the film too, for anyone who has watched it or is planning on, look carefully.

Here's 2....(hopefully spoiler free)
During the reaping in district 12 when the first name is called...

When the Chariots enter for the first time, things are thrown to the ground..........when they stop in the middle............(did you notice, cos there is two during ths chariots scene)

Jack Reacher was actually one of my favourite films. It had a good plot to it and was more than just an action film.

I usually go to the cinema a lot. I've got cineworld unlimited so try my best to see every film there is really. I've got a few mates with it as well, so I can quite easily just go and spend a day there haha.

I watched Jack Reacher recently also, well some of it. I fell asleep on the couch to be honest, I'm not much of a fan of Tom Cruise but it seemed like a decent movie.

I watched The Hunger Games a while back, I actually bought it on iTunes/Apple TV a long time ago and never watched it, I ended up coming across it on Netflix months later so I watched it then. It's a bit of a strange one but worth watching. I think I tried to watch Hostel after it but once it got juicy my Wi-Fi kept dropping so I gave in.

I want to see that new Conjouring, as scary movies go, it actually looks quite scary. Anything with looking behind you, and then turning back around and seeing someone in a mirror is always freaky! :)

Sounds like Men of Valour, pretty cheesy film. All the action scenes were some of the most realistic Military engagements in a film I have ever seen though. They were the films only real saving grace.

This looks pretty good, Mark Wallberg is a decent actor so his films are usually good as well.

The only decent films I have watched recently are Oblivion

And The Place Beyond the Pines

Thanks SieB, it was Men of Valour! Yeah it didn't seem a great film I only watched 30mins or so, I will give it a full watch though when I think on.

I think Mark Whalberg is quite a good actor, I really liked his film a few years ago Shooter. Thought that was good, looking forward to watching Pain and Gain with him and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in as well.

Speaking of The Rock, his movies have come on so far since he started, The Mummy Returns to me was great when I was a kid, but The Tooth Fairy? What?! But now he's got G.I Joe, Fast 6, Pain and Gain, Hercules in the making.

Does that cineworld unlimited allow 2D and 3D?

If you ever get the chance to watch Death Race (1,2 or 3) they are pretty good to,

I mean who doesnt like a car race in a prison environment with turrets and rocket launchers and heavy artillery mounted onto cars. Last man alive wins.

Haha agreed, I've seen Death Race 1 and it was something different but good to watch. I've still not watched Avatar in 3D, may as well of not of bought it. I tend not to watch films that me and my ex saw in the cinema, which unfortunately for me is every damn film! We really shouldn't of gone to the cinema once or twice a week...

Unlimited 2D, 3D costs an extra £1.50 each time, and IMAX is an extra £4.50.

It used to cost £9.99 a month a few years ago which is amazing for what you can get.

It's now £15.90 a month, which may seem quite a lot, but as it's free, you do end up just going to see everything that's out and so it really is worth it.

Just gets a bit annoying when it's the exact same set of trailers on every single film haha.

Just watched Toy Story 3 again. I hate that ending.
Scary movies? Fine, I can handle. Sad endings like The Return Of The King, no please... :nopity:

Hahaha! I won't watch Despicable Me again, at the end there was some sort of note flying around or something that said 26th May, my ex screamed at me in the cinema "That's our date!" because we got together that day...grrr.

I have just watched and really enjoyed Oblivion and StarTrek Into Darkness and GI JOE Retaliation, I want to see RED2, part 2 of The Hobbit and James Cameron has just announced that he will be doing three more parts to Avatar the last one screening 2018.
Also supposed to be some more Expendables as well as a Badboy's 3 and some others soon that I can't think of off the top of my head ATM but some real good movies about to come out.

I watched Red 2 last night - great movie. As good as the 1st one if not better.

Recently watched Snitch with The Rock. It wasn't a bad movie, but it's not something I can see myself remembering.

Need to watch Snith myself. Looking forward to Hercules with The Rock, he posted another pic of it on Instagram about an hour ago, I saw it after like half an hour and it had thousands of likes already. He's a beast.

I saw Kick-Ass 2 today...

Best film I've seen in a long time. It seems reviewers online don't seem to agree though...although these are the same reviewers that said 'Spring Breakers' was good...
