Yep I have and definitely use those. Doesn't help for the forstner bits though for what I do. On 3/4" stock it does work out to using the top of the bit itself as a guide for depth when doing hinges. A drill press would just make it easier and make it perfectly straight.

Going back to the amp.
I watch a guy on the tube and he has an amp dyno. Well yesterday he uploaded a video of a 15 inch cinema sub. He took the amp out and its identical to the one I was going to use. It said it was 150w (same) and although the two boards on it were oriented differently it was identical.
It made 46w at 8 ohms.
So I feel completely redeemed tbh. I'd have been so disappointed with the sub thinking it was bad.

OK so a slight snag yesterday. The plug does not fit in the magnet pole piece. Basically it has a slight taper. The butt plug fits into the backside (lmfao) perfectly but the end inside the coil is too small. I need to send it back (just the one piece) and get it trimmed. For that I had to order an "inside vernier". It was less than £4.
I built up the spider.
And then a gert big pile of stuff was all opened and sorted.
Ti coated spikes and threadserts.
Ti coated bolts and threadserts.
I then spent the rest of the afternoon yesterday making up cables. This is the Speakon plate and inside wire for the sub.
Minto tbh. And this is the outside cable from the amp into the socket.
I also found my mini router and ordered this.
Oh and the wood has arrived. So when the sharpies I ordered arrive tomorrow I need to start labelling the countless pieces.

Very nice, should make things a little easier and more accurate. Nice job on the cables too, they look great.

OK so as you may have noticed it is hot. Like very, very hot. That slows me down quite a bit. I didn't realise that the reason why the work bench I got for £18 was so cheap until it arrived. It was in pretty much every piece it could be. This combined with worthless instructions had me taking it apart several times to correct mistakes. However, I got there in the end. Sadly I could not find any bolts long enough in M5 or M6, so I used some left over from my CNC machine with wing nuts. It'll do tbh.
So that is now ready to use. I've also been mapping out plans onto the various pieces of wood which takes more time than working on them. I now have two of these, though. Just a few cuts with the jigsaw and then attempt to use the trimmer (don't worry I have two spares of these pieces lmao) and they will be done. The nastiest part is done (the burning stinky hole saw).
So yeah, just joining the dots now really. I also decided not to use the yellow odds 'n sods RCA cables for the sub etc. I got this for £43, and will use one out of the wall into the DSP and one from there into the Cyrus. Oh, and talking of the DSP I got that fired up last night on an old router PSU and had a tinker. It's a fantastic piece of kit.
They are Chord Co. But, the sensible option and certainly not because I will hear the difference /rolls eyes.
So aye, on the jigsaw tomorrow etc. Sunday I will start assembling the cabinet itself.

OK so got some done today. First up was the piece that the acrylic window panel will sit on. One corner needs some filing and it seems I lost mine, so I will do that when it arrives then paint.
This is the brace. Roundover worked lovely. Again, sanded this and got it almost ready. Just need to file off the burn marks from the hole saw lol.

OK so finally feels like I am starting to get somewhere ! Before I go into that though I forgot to mention I grabbed this on PD for £21.
I have a 5 way, but I am continually messing around pulling things in and out of it. I have flipped the "ears" and it will power the amp and all my chargers. Obs no protection, so another PD deal was this for £7.
OK so today I curved one edge of the port and then double curved the air end. I then got into my groove painting sealer. In fact I got so into it that only one panel is left to seal on the inside now. I literally ran out of space to put them to dry lol.
And said port. Sadly the filler is lost and it is too hot to go out to the front shed and look. So I ordered some more.
I have one outer panel to round over now. I wasn't sure if it would go into the sunken screw holes so did not want to risk it. By the time I figured it wasn't all the tools were cleaned and put away so I will do that tomorrow.
