The Chess-Machine

Might Sound like a Stupid Question, but what colour will the MDF Be painted, If at all

it's going to be primed ,painted and clear-coated.
I haven't made my mind for which color to choose yet and if it's going look like wood at the final process . what I know for sure is that it will be much different at the end.
I guess we will find out soon:)

Better have a chess-board pattern on it :p
Maybe even a full playable board? ;o
*knows nothing about chess*

update:

the hole on the roof was a little small so decided to widen it a little

after having done that I proceeded to the front panel
it was pretty much difficult job to make the hole on the wooden cover at the same level with the ones on the acrylic
when I achieved to measure it correctly and screw the plastic panel on the wooden then it was an easy job for the jigsaw to do the rest

update

the first owner of the radiator was pretty rough with it as u can see in the photos below

dsci0134b.jpg

dsci0135w.jpg

straightened the damaged fins and cleaned it with the air-compressor in order to spray it

dsci0136js.jpg

back to the case again
primed the whole mdf surface . 2 coats with highly thinned primer and the last coat thinned to the proper ratio. between the coats there was sanding to remove the suiciding bugs and dust particles

dsci0126k.jpg

dsci0128f.jpg

next step was to open a window at the right panel . jigsaw did most of the job and sanding paper the rest

dsci0142d.jpg

dsci0143t.jpg

windows hole is ready

dsci0149q.jpg

dsci0150m.jpg

next step was to cut a acrylic piece for the window . I used a thick (12mm) sheet , the same I used in the dark eldar themed project

marked the area where the cut would take place

sanding again with a sander and then with sanding sponge

that acrylic sheet had been used for years as a self in a store. so there were many scratches on it but that's not very big of a problem cause I have removed scratches from acrylic in the past
as I was removing the tape (which was stuck on the acrylic sheet for more than a year) I saw that it was stuck for good and was difficult to remove. I used the heat-gun which made the tape removal easy but the remaining glue was refreshed . god damn it

finally, after searcing in google I found that oil is the solution. very easy and more than effective!

after having cleaned the surface I had to remove the scratches . begun wet sanding with 400grit sanding paper, then 600g ,800 , 1000, ...etc and finished it with 2000 grit which was the finer I had.
then rubbing compound and polishing compound.

next step was the acrylic etching.
found a pic in google , reversed it and printed it on A4 sheet.
