Im trying to revive this "beast of its time" for my sister's sue to keep her off mine  all she does is bebo and messenger mind!

2 X 16mb ram (not the standard ddr size)

These 2 things which i cant actually identifty - its soo old

A network card

And the sexeh ATI 3D Rage II

attachment.php

Im not sure how to connect these three as all i have is...

attachment.php

A really small 4 pin connector, a just as small 3 pin which seems to connect to the soundcard and a more spread out yet nearly as small pins (ati card?) 4 pin.

when I start up to what seems to me as "all fine" i either get infinite beeps, a weird beep that ends abruptly into the normal startup sound that old pcs make or just hard drive seeking with the normal statup sound. Note the beeps is my concern...

Also tried connecting my monitor to it - it doesnt detect anything so either the ATI3D Rage II is not powered properly (i have no idea which pins to connect to) or its fuzzled

None of those should need a power cable. The RAM is 72 pin SD and 16mb is not alot for a P1.
2 X 16mb ram (not the standard ddr size)
I hope your joking about this lols. Cause DDR wasnt out when this PC was t3h

. Just plug the video card in by itself with no cables hooked up and see what it does.

lol ^^ i dont know anything about this hardware - all i know is its different, slow and pretty beasty looking.

What is the siemens stuff?

Dude, i believe i can give you 32mb if you want lols. It goes, EDO SIMM, SDRAM, DDR, DDR2, ect. As in extremely ancient. Video cards didnt require aditional power i dont think till the 9*** series. Just leave the video card in itself and have a go.

i tried it with just the card in, no power connectors and the monitor still wouldnt turn on - no beeps either

Dude... just get a new one.

Seriously, shop smart and you can get a entier sepmy 2800+ machine for about £180 now.

I have somthing simmliar sitting in a base of my cupboard collecting dust...

Just thought it would be a bit of fun tbh - I do have a sempy 2600, Asrock k7vt4a+ motherboard and the old psu from my sempy rig, but i'd need some ddr ram, a graphics card and a cd drive *goes to for sale and wanted section*

WOW!! I got memory like that on my MBX1230 accelerator card in my Amiga 1200.

What is that sound card?

Give it a week and she'll be like "Can I play the Sims and Oblivion on it?"

What is the Mobo and BIOS? My PIII makes a single beep during post, so that could mean it's ok. But it's the continuous beeps that you need to investigate. Try and get the BIOS name and version number and do a Google search for that. Could be a bit of the hardware that you're not installing properly.

Well dude, the soundcard is an Aztech something or other...

Ill have a look later at the bios chip etc. as its gaming time atm :D

She isnt bothered with games on this pc (I have vetoed the use of sims on this pc, after last time...) so hopefully she wont be on the next
