Tablet and controlling PC

Hi guys,

I have mostly been using my nexus 10 to control my PC mainly for convenience with teamview.

Was just wondering if anyone on this forum also does this and if so what do you use?

Also I plan to purchase a new tablet and would like to hear everyone's thoughts and opinions on what tablet I should get, I am leaning towards a windows based tablet at the moment and would even consider one of those hybrid ones.

Why control your PC?

If you fancy a Windows Tablet, I'd eyeball those new Surface Pro 3's, but they are more of a replacement than just a tablet.

I've used Splashtop for this purpose.

It's good for medium bandwidth things like checking the progress of a Steam game install, watching movies from another pc, progress of a backup etc. Not so great for games, depending on the game of course. I tried playing Anno 2070 which was running on my main rig (at 2560x1600) on my ipad (2048x1536) but the differing screen resolutions made things slightly awkward, and I think the fps limit is 30. Mouse control using the ipad can be done okay with practice.

For £1.99 for the new Splashtop 2 iphone/ipad app it's worth a go. It's free on the Microsoft App Store (Win 8.1 only) and I'm going to have a play with now that you've mentioned it, as I've not tried it yet with my SP3! That'll be an interesting trial - pc to pc, (2560x1600 to 2160x1440 or vice versa).

I'm using my Lumia 625 with PC Remote pro, for my media rig, just out of the convenience, of not having a cordless keyboard and mouse, next to me on my sofa.
