Swapping FX-8320 for I7-2600K

Hello guys,

Today i got an offer to swap my AMD CPU + Mobo for a Intel Combo.
This seems a really good deal to me. but before i decide i want to know how you guys think about it. On AnandTech the 2600k scores better.

My rig:
AMD FX-8320
Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3

What i can swap it for:
Intel Core i7 2600K
ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3

Both setups are 2 months old. he wants to swap it for my AMD since it does 5Ghz on stock voltage. And he wants to LN2 cool it. So he can get a new world record.

Both configs are bought at the same webshop with still 21 months of warranty left.

Ask him how far the chip can overclock, if that's what you want to do. If it's decent, make the trade. If you're not getting a real performance boost, you'll have to decide wether you want to help someone out or not

I asked him. His chip can do about 4hz on 1.16v he said
Is that good?
He never overclocked it over 5.2ghz and 1.3v is what he told me.

But then again, even if you get it at like 4.5GHz it's well worth it as Intel offers much more performance per core compared to AMD

He was able to boot at that voltage. it was not even close to stable. it does 4.4ghz on 1.235v stable. and 4.8 on 1.295. anything above was unstable.

but i think i'm gonna take the deal and swap to the intel.
I'm a gamer so Intel performs better there.

Not sure if epic chip or B.S lol Mine does 4.8 on 1.38

In general, most 2600k's wont even reach 5GHZ what ever voltage, but those that do usually require at least 1.5v, so I call bs

I tested it at his house today and it was working fine @ 4.4

Even if his claims are true, I would be wary of using hardware from someone who employs extreme cooling on their kit - you don't know how much longer it'll live having possibly been frozen and thawed several times over.

If he can demonstrate it working, then ask him to provide, say, 28 days in which to return it for current second-hand going rate in case it dies on you.

sounds like a deal from another memeber had gotten into.
turned out the best it could muster on overclock was 4.2 because it was really wrung
out on a folding bench @ monster voltages.
buying or trading to this, you should only expect it'll be stable at stock clock and
voltages and if it overclocks you got a bonus. expecting whopper (BS) overclocks
or what ever fairytales are disclosed is merely phoo-phoo. if you are good with
that, then take the deal. don't expect his claims.

If that's what he told you, then you only have his word to go by. I'd still do what I suggested to cover yourself. Otherwise: bargain!

So i think i will be fine. he gives me 3 months because he is 100% sure about is word. So i think i will be fine. i also inspected the motherboard today. i do not see any kind of oxidation on the board.

Any recommendations when i have the board + proc?
what do i need to test to make sure there is absolutely nothing wrong with it?
