Still hope for AMD bulldozer!!??

That's the thing isn't it.

Whatever magical fixes they apply to 7 - even if it is in an attempt to massage it inline with 8 (if that's the magic bean theory), it may well be benefitting the Intel variant in anycase.

This 40-70% increase, can-not be in flat out performance. They have to be using numbers (if it comes to fruition) like nVidia use similar numbers with new graphic card drivers.

e.g. 40% increase in Batman.... erm that mean your 100fps now become 140fps - which doesn't happen. You probably get cores working 40% more efficientlty, which ends up as probably a 5% increase in overall performance.

Here I am trying to argue with you and you are thinking the same as me...I re-read your post I quoted previously and it makes a lot more sense now.

Reading comprehension fail on my part.

it is not just amd chips that will have a performance improvement. intel will have a boost as well.

with this in mind, the 8150 will still not beat sandy

only the new chipsets will reveal BD's true potential.

stop trying to think that a fix will be here soon. only the new FM mobos will rectify any issues with 'dozer

it is a hardware issue - software cannot fix hardware

I agree.

Imo BD has come and flopped. I've had AMD machines for years now and been quite happy but this potential performance boost is really not worth hoping for. Intel has tried and tested processors at reasonable prices with the 1155 suitable for upgrading to ivy; why risk buying anything else?

As far as I'm concerned performance machines for the next year should be looking at Intel (SB/SB-E/IB) until 2nd gen BD comes up, then see whether this Zambezi stuff really works with a new socket.

+1 some common knowledge and experience working here ^
